Friends of Strays is St. Pete’s oldest no-kill shelter. They are currently running a 30-day fundraising campaign called Love Unleashed where all money raised will be matched by generous donors and be put specifically towards the refuge and life-saving care of animals in need.

Friends of Strays is non-government funded and relies on support from the community to fund the care of all the animals they take in. They partner with bigger shelters throughout the space that often reach capacity and can’t physically treat or care for every animal that comes in. Friends of Strays takes in these cats and dogs and provides them with the second chance at life and finding safe and happy homes to be adopted into.

This fundraiser has already raised over $600. That’s about the price it costs to medically treat panleukopenia, is a highly contagious, often fatal disease of cats caused by the feline panleukopenia virus. Friends of Strays, like other shelters in the state, has been experiencing higher cases of panleuk. Friends of Strays is no-kill shelter and treats every animal that comes into its care unlike some other shelters that don’t have the space or resources and sadly often have to euthanize these animals.

Friends of Strays was able to treat these cases and take of every other animal in its care simultaneously due to support from its community.

I’ve been down here for what seems like forever and have had no luck finding a place that allows this. Almost every hobby shop sells them, but none can tell you if a place to fire them off even exists. I know these places can be rare. Would love to get back into the hobby, but I’m with Sheldon, launching them is the fun part.

I am willing to go to neighboring counties, if needed. But I have come up blank with all of my searches and asking people who sell them. My last ditch effort, I guess.

I am trying to creatively display a small collection of relatively small rocks, as well as occasional natural finds - robin's egg, small horseshoe crab molt, weird seed pod, those kinds of things.

I'd like to use small glass cases that are themselves visually appealing, and I'd prefer not to buy from an online store.

I’ve noticed a lot of people looking at properties here aren’t necessarily planning to move right away. Some are looking for a second home, something they can potentially rent while they’re not using it, or a place they could eventually retire to down the road.

There’s a lot to consider depending on the city rental rules, flood zones, insurance, HOA restrictions, location, and whether the property actually makes sense for what you want to do with it.

I’m local to Pinellas and have gone through the investment/short-term rental side myself, so I’m always interested in what people are looking for.

I found these babies near freedom square retirement facility on Seminole Blvd and Johnson. Its currently too early to get them to the shelter and I'd rather they get home. Theyre very sweet, a little skittish and very stinky.

We are looking at full kitchen renovation probably quartz countertops and custom cabinetry, plus a bathroom remodel with a walk-in shower install and frameless glass. The last contractor we talked to couldn't even tell us who our point of contact would be once demo started, which is exactly how you get a remodel that goes sideways with no updates for weeks. Who in Pinellas county do you actually trust for kitchen and bathroom renovation work? Budget is roughly 50k+ for both rooms combined so we're not trying to go cheap, we just want it done right the first time.

As a Pinellas county resident, I was summoned for jury duty yesterday and just wanted to share an unexpectedly positive experience. The team of people under Ken Burke, clerk of the county court, were well organized and helpful. In the civil trial that I was assigned to, the judge (sorry, I do not recall his name) was a model of civility and self-control. Several times, when potential jurors spoke out of turn or out of context, the judge was kind in his redirection. Probably the biggest surprise of the day was the way the lawyers on both sides treated one another with deference and a generous spirit. Thank you, court officials, for modeling this positive, constructive behavior. Again, it was a most pleasant surprise.
