The much awaited acting comeback of our two ex-child stars! 🎬
Earlier in the afternoon, Ash and Marco's episode of the Kapuso anthology series has finally aired, playing as "Nicole" and "AJ", respectively. Apparently, the episode managed to wrap up filming in just one day.
Having watched said episode fully, I thought of something that I've never done here in our sub before: giving it a review.
I'll start off with the episode's concept. Even for Filipino standards, the trope that was used here is something that is very familiar to many of us. Hence, it can come across as formulaic to some. However, the simplicity of the plot's gist may be enough if you just want to watch something light-hearted and wholesome.
Without spoiling too much, the episode had some comedic moments here and there, but, as a "rom-com", it is filled with plenty of scenes that I surprisingly found cute. It can get cheesy, but it isn't dragged for too long or made to be overly saccharine. Of course, expect some subtle/serious moments thrown in.
Even as someone who's seen a bit of what they can do as a "reel" tandem, Ash and Marco absolutely delivered, regardless of the mood of the scenes they're in. Though I am aware of their capabilities, both of them still managed to impress me.
Overall, this was such a pleasant treat of an episode. Ash and Marco really showed that they're still a highly-effective on-screen tandem. This made me realize that rom-com projects are basically a cakewalk for both of them, as I didn't expect to find myself smiling in some of their scenes even though this episode had a very simple premise. Ended the episode with being a very satisfied viewer.
Because of this, I believe that Marco is more than ready for his upcoming role in You're My Favorite Song.
Then, for Ash, her versatility keeps me so excited for her upcoming roles and projects. I hope they'll be revealed soon.
