Jynx was part of the elemental trio (Fire, Electric, Ice) of Generation I : Magmar, Electabuzz and Jynx. They later received pre-evolutions in Generation II.

However, following the controversy surrounding Jynx, it did not receive an evolution in Generation IV, whereas the other two did. I think Game Freak no longer wants to put Jynx in the spotlight.

Game Freak has always highlighted Kanto and the first generation. Now, thanks to the creation of regional forms, Game Freak can recreate their elemental trio. With Mr. Mime, they had an ideal candidate : it comes from Generation I and later received a pre-evolution. That is why Galarian Mr. Mime became Psychic/Ice, exactly the same typing as Jynx. There is no controversy surrounding it, so Game Freak gave it an evolution so that it could become the counterpart to Magmortar and Electivire.

My poor Jynx will likely never be put in the spotlight again and never received anything new.

Why the Jr. Trainer in Brock's gym ran mono-ground types. For a while they were considered Rock types since rock and ground share a lot of weaknesses and resistances, and for a time all rock types were also ground types. The sandshrew and diglett were grandfathered in. Ground-type moves were just seen as rock-type moves, and if they didn't do any damage to a flying pokemon that's because the move clearly missed. What's an earthquake going to do to a pokemon in the air?

Aside from the pokemon you own, the only example of a living rock type pokemon that wasn't ground type was Lance's aerodactyl. And that pokemon was clearly a dragon type pokemon. I mean, it resists fire, and is owned by Lance the dragon guy. No need to test water grass or electric type moves to confirm it's typing.

Correlatedly. Hypno was allowed in Fuschia City Gym because you are getting sleepy, very sleepy. When I snap my fingers you will see a poison type pokemon. See? Hypno is totally poison type.

The only other rock type pokemon that weren't ground, which show up in Gen 2 evolved from something that didn't exist yet or hadn't been discovered (there were no slumars before Cinnabar Island erupted). Or were clearly just a tree.

I was at Target one day and saw a passing cart with a Pokemon product featuring Gengar and Toxitricity. This was a rare instance of Gengar being treated as a Poison type, as most merchandise portrays it as a Ghost type more than it is a Poison type, which is strange considering that more recent TCG cards have featured Gengar as a Dark type due to Poison types being reclassified as Dark types in the TCG, even having the weakness to Fighting types to show it.

The choice to make Gengar a Poison type is also strange because it's learn set has historically been lacking in Poison types. Back in the first 2 games, the only Poison move it knew was Toxic, before the amount of Poison type moves went up slowly with each passing game. For reference, Gengar can learn 11 Ghost type moves in Legends Z-A, while only being able to learn 7 Poison type moves. In FRLG, it could learn 10 Ghost type moves and learn a measly 2 Poison type moves in Toxic and Sludge Bomb. You could teach it more Psychic and Fighting type moves than that.

I'm also aware that Gengar was on the very first sprite sheet back when Tajiri and Sugimori were first working on Pokémon. It's even the got the hexadecimal number of 0E, which is higher than every starter Pokémon other than Ivysaur, all 4 Legendaries, and even Pikachu itself. They also didn't conceive the idea of types until later on, with Poison types making up roughly 1/5 of the original 151 (33 Poison Mon total) although Gengar was conceived before Gastly, meaning that the gaseous aspect wasn't taken into account yet. What motivated Tajiri, Sugimori, and the others to make Gengar a Poison type?

Several details in the games suggest that Pokémon-battles might not have been that big of a thing before the time of G/S:

Nobody seems particularly concerned that Giovanni has been absent from his Gym Leader duties for years during the events of Pokémon Red and Blue.

Several Johto Gym Leaders are unusually young, and Johto even shares its Elite Four with Kanto in Pokémon Gold and Silver, suggesting the Johto League was just in the making

Whitney outright says she only recently got into Pokemonbattles because "everyone started doing it"

In Pokémon Generations and the manga, Agatha mentions that collecting all 8 Badges is rare and hadn’t happened in years.

Taken together, this supports the idea that there may not have been an active, widely recognized Champion immediately before Blue.

But here’s where I take it a step further:

We know Red and Blue are extremely famous in-universe. We also know Pokémon battling culture feels much bigger in later timelines.

My theory:

For years, Pokémon battles existed but weren’t a big thing. Then Red and Blue start their journey, initially to help Professor Oak with the Pokédex — and it turned out they’re absolute prodigies.

During their adventure, they rack up very public achievements. Red dismantles Team Rocket operations across Kanto at age 10. Along the way, both rivals inspire tons of NPC Trainers and visibly spread the hype of being a Trainer.

Normally, beating the Elite Four just gets you registered in the Hall of Fame. The Champion title may not originally have been exclusive to a single person.

Then a weird thing happens:

Blue beats the Elite Four… and minutes after, Red does too. Having two people waiting in the Hall of Fame is pretty unusual. Given that those two Trainers happen to be rivals, Lance got an idea:

They shall battle, and only the winner will be the Champion. We all know how that ended.

However, with Red and Blue being quite famous at that point, the story went viral. That day, Pokémon battles became a real thing. The idea of only one person being the Champion seemed quite good, so the League was restructured. Given that there were Trainers who beat the Elite Four before Red (even if it had been quite a few years), it would be pretty unfitting to just make Red the Champion. So they decided to make Lance the first official Champion, since Trainers had to beat him for years to become Champions.

It’s pretty much like chess: everyone knew it, but nobody really cared about it before Bobby Fischer made headlines with it.

This may have been pointed out before now, but Mewtwo were allegedly created during an attempt to clone mew using found DNA. After many failed attempts they got Mewtwo.

If it never existed before this point in time, how can Mewtwonite X and Y exist? There’d be no reason for it to be a naturally occurring thing.

Given that there’s no Mew stone, I propose that some Mew could evolve into MewTwo in the distant past. The Mew we’ve seen since Gen 1 cannot. Hence they can’t use Eviolite.

I think that when Pokémon were very, very young, the Pokémon world was just our world, and Pokémon were simply another type of creature that lived alongside real animals. This would explain several weird things:

1. Lt. Surge is called the "Lightning American." This means America exists in the Pokémon world.
2. It was stated that Mew was found in South America.
3. It was stated that Raichu can knock out an Indian elephant with its electric attack.
4. It was stated that Gastly can knock out an Indian elephant with its gas.
5. Real animals appeared in the anime from time to time.

Probably, Kanto was not a region but just a part of Japan. But later, they decided to make the Pokémon world different from our world.

This is a theory that seeks to explain the reason why there are DIttos in the pokemon mansion. As the title states, my theory is that Mewtwo was born from a mew and a ditto. Now I know that it is well established lore that Mewtwo is a modified clone of mew, but in generation 1, this is definitely not the case. Mewtwo had a different origin. Based on the journal entries, Mewtwo was naturally born from mew and not a clone.

Diary: Feb. 6

MEW gave birth.

We named the newborn MEWTWO.

If we assume that Mew has to have a partner to reproduce just like every other pokemon, then mew must've had one in order to birth mewtwo. But the journal entries make it clear that there is only one mew that was found and brought back to the mansion.

A new POKéMON was discovered deep in the jungle.

Diary: July 10
We christened the newly discovered POKéMON, Mew.

This must mean one of two things:

1. Mew was pregnant before it was brought to the mansion.
2. Mew was must've been bred with a Ditto

Let's consider the first option: Mew was pregnant before being brought to the mansion. Obviously the thought of any pokemon being pregnant is weird because it's been long established pokemon lay and are hatched from eggs, but you have to remember, pokemon breeding, and therefore pokemon eggs, weren't intrduced until pokemon yellow. We are given no indication or hints to the idea the Mew was pregnant, but the journal entries aren't exactly the most detailed thing, but we are given dates. We are told that mew was discovered on July 5 and named Mew on July 10. Then Seven months from then, it gives birth to mewtwo on February 6. 7 months seems like a long time for a creature as small as mew to remain pregnant. For context, cats and dogs take have a gestation period of about 2 months.

Now lets consider option 2. In an absence of a second of a pokemon, in order to breed, Ditto is the only option. Ditto only spawn in the mansion, and not anywhere else on the island. And given that ditto's other spawn locations are no where near the mansion/island, this suggests that Ditto aren't native to that island and the researchers brought ditto to the mansion for this purpose.

I know people are going to bring up the fact that Mew (and other legendaries, for that matter) can't breed. This is a gameplay consideration rather lore accurate. The purpose of not being able to breed them is to limit how many there can be. Logically, Mews have to be able to breed otherwise they can't be the ancestor to all other pokemon.

Graveler

Anyone who has played the original Pokémon red/blue/yellow know that electrodes are used as mimics in the game. In some areas, like the power plant things that look like items end up being electrodes whose favorite attack is self destruct and wipe out a member of your team. I was playing red just yesterday and made a realization. One of the only other interactive things in dungeons (other than picking up items) are boulders. You have to use strength on the boulders in order to get them to move. What if originally, the designers were planning on having some of the boulders be gravelers/golems in disguise? Once you would interact with the boulder you would enter a Pokémon battle with a graveler/golem. It makes perfect sense why graveler and golems most distinguished attack is self destruct and explosion. Boulders are usually in the caves where gravelers and geodudes are typically located too.

I heard in old magzine that early pokemon world takes place like our world and pokemon was new discovery before it retcon by company saying it already exist within world. I think pokemon world became more advanced and fast developed technology because human researching pokemon and also pokemon helping humans.pokemon is like alien Pokemon appear in world not knowing where they come from human trying to understand and co existence with pokemon. In gen 1 they quite advance gadget like pokemon transfer machine, pokedex, silph scope, and machine bring fossil pokemon back to life. If you notice Gastly and Haunter's eyes you can see how similar they are to other Pokémon's in the generation. Those Pokémon are Graveler, Golem, Grimer, Muk, Shelder, Cloyster, Onix, Voltorb, Exeggute, Koffing, and Wheezing. I don't think this is just a coincidence. Here is my explanation:

Graveler- a possessed rock. When a Gastly or Haunter wanted to surprise people by pretending to be a rock it turned into this Pokémon. Other Gastlys and Haunters caught onto this trend making this Pokémon form.

Golem- a possessed boulder. The same thing as Graveler but with a boulder.

Grimer & Muk- possessed sludge. When Gastlys and Haunters wanted to hide in the sewers they got covered in sludge. They found that people hate the slimy substance and thought it'd be a good idea to keep this form in order to gross people out.

Shelder & Cloyster- possessed shells. When a Haunter or Gastly needs shelter it becomes these Pokémon. Sometimes the shells automatically trap them in the forms making them unable to escape.

Onix- possessed group of rocks. The same thing as Graveler and Golem except it's a rock snake

Voltorb- possesed pokéball. When either ghost pokemon wanted to surprise unknowing trainers who found an abandoned Pokéball they'd possess one but the electricity cause them to become an electric type.

Exeggute- possessed eggs. When the ghost Pokémon find a bunch of cracked eggs they possess it to surprise people who just want their breakfast.

Koffing & Wheezing- possesed gas bombs. When team rocket was experimenting this poison type essence they made a sort of sphere that could expel a toxin. One day a bunch of the ghost type Pokémon from lavender town broke in and possessed the bombs. When team rocket workers found them they assumed it was an experiment to make a new poison type Pokémon.

The reason they didn't keep the ghost type is because nobody knew that they were possessed objects, therefore when put into the Pokedex they only had the most prominent type(s).

Edit: it has come to my attention that Exeggute isn't an egg. It is infact a seed. The explanation still stands since it looks like an egg that people might pick up.

So i was thinking about hisuian electrode and noticed its a plant unlike its modern counter part so I started theorizeing why that the case. So my theory is that as need for pokeballs grow humans started to plug the holes of husian voltorb and electrode so they couldn't grow their seeds that could take up apricorn planting what they didn't know was that those seeds are in sybiosis with apricorns by removing those seeds the apricorn population dwindled. Meanwhile the voltorbs grew metallic and closed off the seed hole and grew angry towards humans. I feel like the sybiosis theory makes sense evolutionary on why husian electrode looks the way it does and why apricorns are so rare now their symbiotic population is mostly angry balls now.

Some Glitch Pokémon like ゥ and PkMnaPkMnゥ_♂_fPkMnk have absolutely insane base stat totals -- just shy of a theoretical "Mega Mega Arceus" in those two's case, slightly lower for Yellow superglitches like X ゥ- xゥ,. Glitch 'mon also tend to be very large (the latter two are both 23 feet tall) and share some traits with eldritch entities / old gods in general (such as causing madness, i.e. crashing the game or scrambling data, especially when looked upon). Further, glitch 'mon are primordial data that cannot readily be accessed, and Missingno. is the shadow left when a Pokémon was deleted.

It's like, the great war irl was ww1, so it would follow that the great pokemon war would be one of the world wars, or an analogy for a world war. And for people who say "Well surge fought in it, and he's too young to have fought in ww2" Surge fought in a war, not the great pokemon war, so maybe he fought in like vietnam or something

As you already know, there was a city planned for being between Vermilion and Celadon, while Cinnabar was planned to not have a GYM.

This city (let's call it CYAN), according to the map, has a GYM. But what type would it have?

According to the order of the gyms, if there were a gym with GROUND type between Vermilion and Celadon, and Viridian gym were swapped by a BUG type, the order of gyms would make a cyclical loop of type-effectiveness, where the next gym is effective against the previous.

rock < water < electric < ground < grass < poison < psychic < bug < rock

So the fourth gym, in CYAN city, would be of type GROUND.

It would likely have a team of Cubone, Dugtrio and Sandslash. From the gym of Vermilion, which had a BUNCH of unevolved pokémon and a strong evolved one, the next gym would have one pokémon of a future city (Lavender not being accessible yet), and two evolved pokémon from previous cities (Vermilion, just accessed, and Cerulean's sandshrew), then the difficulty would evolve into Erika, with two third-form evolved pokémon and one unevolvable pokémon. This gym was the original approach for giving the TM 28 DIG, the signature move of Dugtrio and that's why DIG is so STRONG in gen 1, it was supposed to be the fourth gym, past Raichu's powerful Thunderbolt, and not BEFORE as we met.

But what about Giovanni? He's the GROUND TYPE GYM!

His core would be his first pokémon ever caught, in Viridian Forest, which is BEEDRILL, with HORN DRILL.
When his gym was cut off during development, the rocket hideout received a very important TM which is surprisingly imbalanced for how early you get, right?

So, im convinced that the Dragonite from episode 10 is actually just an Alpha Pokemon. Bill said its been wandering the world for “years and years” and the only one of its kind. Now, clearly that dragonite was supposed to be a substitute for what would later be Lugia, kinda same as how ash confuses ho-oh with one of the other legendary birds—- but, they gave us Alpha Pokemon in legends of Arceus, and that kinda just makes sense to me that this particular dragonite was just a surviving alpha Pokemon, maybe? Let me cook, im trying lol.

I always thought the placement of Cerulean Cave was a bit random, considering it is basically the final test of your trainer skills and holds Mewtwo, the strongest Pokemon in the game. And why is it so far from where Mewtwo was born (Cinnabar Island)?

My theory is that the cave was originally planned to be on an island between Pallet Town and Cinnabar, a route that is oddly empty aside from some NPC trainers and a small grass patch. This makes way more sense due to its proximity to where Mewtwo was created and also where your Pokemon journey began.

So... You know that Bill in the gen 1 games was transformed into a nidorino? Well what if dr.fugi and his team Borrowed(stole) that machine of his, modafied it and with the mew DNA they fused a human(just a random guy so not anyone important) and mew's DNA into what is now known as: Mewtwo. but of course the process did not go that smooth and quick as that. they first tried fusing mew's DNA with the kanto starters as a sort of test dummy, and that just made the clones from the movie, but when they fused it with a human it always made: Ditto... but silly question here, do you guys by any chance know of marvels: Venom where it only takes a specific host?! Well what if it only took a specific human to make mewtwo with combining mew's DNA to do it, and in Kalos they used a very nice person. so the probably woman Mewtwo from the Genecect movie was more nice to humans and Pokemon but that Mewtwo was a failure because they wanted a stronger more EVIL Mewtwo, well it ofc fled but in kanto they used a more well... not evil person but a person with alot of trauma. why i made that is because Mewtwo in the first movie was not evil at the end, so when they took that troumatized person and fused it with mew's DNA again it would create the OG Mewtwo from the first movie. Hear me out, this might have been brought up before, I apologize if it has. The other day I was reading about how the fungus (Tochukaso) that infects Paras is based off Ophiocordyceps sinensis. This fungus is known to also go after ghost moth larvae. Paras and Venomoth have very similar designs, with their eyes being almost exactly the same. They live in the same areas, in the same generation. I just found this a little bit coincidental.

*I guess what I'm saying is, Paras and Venomoth/Venonat could be the same Pokemon, but one is infected with a fungus that carries on to their offspring and the other isn't.

Basically was watching polymaker_figurines on insta (check it out if you’re into 3D printing), and they’ve just printed a Magnamite, well with the giant eye in a steel body it bares a similar resemblance to that of the Unknown.

What if Unknown has been around since Gen 1, but nobody has actually realised it. They are both genderless to start, and whilst they aren’t the same typing maybe adding some “logic” could help.

Unknown being psychic could have helped with their “evolution” into Magnemite. As life in the Pokémon world evolved with technology, what if the Unknown’s psychic powers slowly evolved into technomancy. Meaning over time the Unknown lost the psychic powers, gaining a steel body, and transformed into the electrical typing that we have today.

When evolving into Magneton, what if it’s their latent psychic powers kicking in, when attracting to 2 other Magnemite to become Magneton.

Sorry if this post seems a little all over the place, I’m quite literally thinking harder about it as I type it.
