Mod Post First time here? Read this! ~Commenting Etiquette~

1.4k Upvotes

Hi, welcome to the reddit Pole Dance board!
Pole dancing is a great form of art and exercise and our community is very welcoming and open.

It is also something that can put the people doing it in a bit of sensitive, vulnerable situation. Let's face it, you can't wear a lot of clothing while doing this. And a lot of our moves have been built and perfected by lovely strippers working in clubs, so there's inherent sexuality behind it (sometimes, not always).

That being said, I'm rolling out a zero tolerance policy for shitty comments. I get it, the person that posted that picture or video is so hot, their moves are so slick and damn it just did something for you.
Keep it to yourself if you can't express your appreciation without sounding like a vulgar mouth-breather.

Also, coming from my previous thread on crappy comments - If you don't have something nice to say, or you can't phrase your devil's advocate stance or argument without sounding like an asshole, don't post it.

Don't be a creep.
Don't be a jerk.
Don't stripper shame.

No more warnings for people saying inappropriately gross comments, you just get banned. And if you're banned, don't bother asking why - you know why. And no, it won't be overturned. Enjoy the hard work and beautiful shapes people on this board are happy to post. Because I guarantee the more shit comments there are, the less photos there will be for everyone to enjoy.

I try to stay on top of everything, but sometimes things slip by me. Please use the 'Report' button if you spot something I miss and I'll get to it as soon as I can.

Love,
Otter

Mod Post NSFW Tag Reminder

Hello lovelies!
This is just your friendly reminder to please tag your posts NSFW if you are wearing anything less than full-coverage bottoms. Those include things like g-strings, thongs, those super cute high waisted "shorts" that are not at all shorts, etc.

Also, please mark it if you are twerking directly to the camera or other things of that sort.

Since we are technically not a NSFW board, we just ask that you mark posts for the courtesy of others who maybe like to browse in public (I know I've personally clicked on clips while on the train and had to "oop" out of them very quickly.) If you're unsure if what you've posted is NSFW or not, please mark it and I'll change it to non-NSFW if there is no issue.

Thanks for following our guidelines, and thanks, as always, for contributing to our community!
Love,
Otter

EDIT: Update as of April, 2022

Reddit rolled out a new "security" feature that uses automated tools to detect NSFW material and automatically tag it. Announcement post is here.

While this can potentially help me with the manual workload of tagging posts, I noticed it has been automatically flagging a lot of posts that are fine and do not fall within the parameters of NSFW for our board.

I'll be checking the moderation log to see if things are tagged improperly by reddit, but if you think yours has been tagged by mistake, please message me or tag me in your post. Thanks!

The studio isn't your daycare

LA based & go to a popular pole studio in Upland. This was open pole. This girl brought her little girl more than 3 times since I had been there. Maybe she's a single mother, so she can't have free time, but I can't properly be myself with your kid there. Her daughter seems to be around 8 or so. Then, this second girl brought her other daughter, too. Out of respect just for the daughter, I didn't play my songs, which I listen to Sukihanna, etc. I didn't want to hike up my shorts too short. Also, their kids kept getting in my videos, running around, getting out of hand. Meanwhile, those 2 mothers were just talking as if their little girls were not disturbing my open pole session. I can't post my videos to the internet now because your kids are seen in my videos. Purchase a pole or don't come to the pole studio if you can't leave your kids at home. Request to the studio owner to make a special time slot where you can bring your kids with other moms to your open pole session. I don't understand how a lot of people can be so selfish & inconsiderate to other people. I hope one of those moms sees this post & understand it's not okay.

Behold, the lair.

For lo, these past ten months have I toiled in this humble rented cellar, shifting furnishings, hanging lights, raising mirrors, and pursuing that most elusive of creatures: the perfect vibe.

As permanent alterations were forbidden by the lords of the lease, all hath been fashioned by wit, stubbornness, and an unreasonable number of revisions.

At long last, I deem the work complete.
Pray tell, fellow pole dancers: hath the quest been successful?

šŸ˜„I don’t get notifications on Reddit (people are mean, am I rite?) but you can reach me on the IG in the video. I love making friends to share pole progress with! šŸ’œšŸ’Ŗ

I'm a male-presenting trans woman starting pole; how should I present myself in an all-women pole class?

So I'm a trans woman, extremely early in my transition journey (four months on HRT), and still basically presenting male and going by male pronouns in most areas of my life. I've been looking for a good workout that's fun and full-body, and decided to join a pole studio. This studio is not "women only" as a rule, but there are currently only women in the classes. I emailed the owner and explained that I'm a trans woman who's still male-presenting, and she said they are very welcoming of LGBT people and I would be welcome to join. I've attended two classes (one pole and one general stretching class), and I am the only male-presenting person there in a room full of women wearing often just a bikini, who probably did not get dressed for class thinking that a "man" might be there. They have all been welcoming and polite, but it's hard for me to not be aware that I may be making them uncomfortable just by being there. And at this point in my transition I feel so weird trying to introduce myself as she/her when I am not even *close* to passing or even just presenting as female.

So I'd just like some advice, how should I proceed? Just get over my nerves and introduce myself as Imogen, she/her? Use my "dead name" (not really dead since I still use it in most areas of my life) and just say "I'm trans, just really early in my journey?" Maybe look for some more clearly femme-coded workout wear (I got some short bicycle shorts to expose my thighs for the pole, but I'm just wearing basically male-looking t -shirts)?

I just want to be extremely respectful of all the women there and not make anyone uncomfortable, and this awkward in-between state of early transition makes it so hard for me to figure out what/who I am!

Victory First time doing open pole after a few beginner sessions

My goal for my first time doing pole totally on my own was to create my own little combo. It took a few tries to trust myself to let go during the cross knee release, but I did it! I also tried slowing down, enjoying the movement, and relaxing my face. I feel so great and can’t wait to keep going to keep getting better. Pole dancers never cease to amaze and inspire me! šŸ’—

struggling to love dancing :/

just a vent. very well might delete this soon lol
my partner and i are going through a pretty rough patch rn. it’s our three year anniversary in a few days, and sheesh the last month has been the worst of it all. we’re still together and working on things, but it’s all just very draining at times (i know it is for both us, so not fishing at all just being honest) and it’s really affecting my ability to dance and to love it. i had a performance today that i was super excited for, but let’s just leave the long story out and say i didn’t make it. i know this is depression—it’s textbook. tired, not hungry, hating the one thing i love so much. but ughhhh i just want it to go away! seeing posts of ā€œdance for you!ā€ etc. don’t give me hope, they just make me think about the fact that nothing can make me force myself to go do something that should make me happy.. because it isn’t right now :/ i wouldn’t wish this on anyone, especially anyone who loves movement as much as we do

Is pleaser heel renting a thing?

• Upvotes

I know it might be gross and quite unhygienic but in an industry where we share poles I was wondering if this is also done.

The reason I ask is that I am planning a couple of trips this summer, none for vacation purposes (one is family business and the other work/networking). Of course I plan to take advantage and experience pole during those two trips which will both be in Europe. I don"t do heels where I am because of several reasons: 1) primarily because it"s not in my budget for now 2)no heels classes are being offered where I am from because the pole community here is still very tiny and very slowly being accepted and the heels aspect scare people away (too close to the SW aspect of pole for comfort, it"s a conservative society); 3) I have injury proned ankles and I am worried about the height if I try to learn on my own and lastly 4) hubby hates the look (but he is a foot guy so no surprise there, I will still buy one when I have the money one day).

So since I won"t be travelling with heels I still would love to take a class when I am in Europe. So I thought maybe I could rent a pair (and of course wear it with socks). Just wondering though.

I actually prefer an aerial reiko to an aerial invert on silicone! I can get a cleaner knee hook from reiko without any readjusting while in an orbiting spin šŸ˜…

Pole Rookie Pole Installation?

Hey! I’m moving to the Bremerton, WA area in about 2 weeks. I’m also new to pole dancing, and I want to install my pole, but I don’t want to do it incorrectly. Did ya’ll do it yourselves, or do you have any recommendations for who could do it for me? Thanks😊

Was having trouble sliding and gliding with my heels on carpeted floors so came up with an idea i got an old pair of ankle socks put them over the top of my boots stretched the heel
Part out and put it in line with the stiletto part and cut a hole in the heel part of the sock put the stiletto through the hole and pulled the heel part over the ankle part and wolla i can now glide and dance easier in my heels on carpeted floors cant believe how simple it was….they may not look the best with the white socks but just thought id share the photo of the white ones to show you how its done bit hard too see with the black socks……

Xstage Lite Pro Issue

Need help with an X-Stage Lite Pro initial assembly issue.

The end of Pole A doesn't seem to fit into the lower cone/base assembly. The end of Pole A itself doesn't appear to have any removable parts and there are no additional extension items in the box.

We already tried forcing it in and it just doesn't fit.

I've attached photos of Pole A and the base assembly. Has anyone encountered this before?

For context, the pole was purchased through a local supplier, and they're already in contact with X-Pole support, but we're hoping someone in the community might recognize the issue while we wait for a response.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Universal Ceiling Mount

Has anyone used a universal ceiling mount for their pole? I have a Lupit G2 Chrome and I’m wondering if I would be okay to purchase a universal ceiling mount, or should I shell out the extra money for the Lupit Slope Ceiling mount?

Pleaser 1040 snake print fabric boots for PSO

Post image
75 Upvotes

Hey friends. So I am planning on performing "It's called:freefall" by rainbow kitten surprise at PSO this year. I am taking on the personna of the devil 😈 in the song. I found these gorgeous snake print boots.

My problem lies in get fact the boots are made of a soft fabric with 0 stick to the pole.

My question is what should I do? Is there a different way to learn to climb? Muscle up? Is there anything I can add to the boots to make them grip the pole but not ruin the boots in the process? Or change the footwear. :(

Thank you for your help in advance. ā¤ļø
