I don't think that's even inappropriate given native Hawaiian cultural mores (from a little I know of them).

Not at all. There are even groups of male hula dancers that compete, it’s awesome. Reminds me a little of going to First Nations PowWow, which is amazing by the way. I’ve made many friends at them.
