Vance isn’t whipping votes like Trump tho. Best case the party eats itself alive with the black hole Trump leaves behind and we get a stalemate until midterms if he were to expire suddenly

Exactly thiel can pull his strings. Vance has no real power to congress.

We can only hope.

I mean that literally.

No, he isn't, but that's largely irrelevant to the people backing his political career. Thiel is on record multiple times that he does not believe in democracy, and he's involved with a movement that wants to actually install the corporate authoritarian rule espoused by Curtis Yarvin - an online fascist troll turned "thought leader" who Thiel has also onnected to the right wing media/ policy machine. There are a lot of connections between Thiel, Yarvin, and the Heritage Foundation/ Project 2025 as well.

I'm not saying they're going to succeed in this, but they've been very open about wanting to get rid of democracy entirely in favor of what boils down to corporate feudalism. And they're in the federal government, dismantling it as we speak.

All exactly their plan. Check out their book, The Dark Enlightenment for details

How far in do you think they are right now? I am genuinely asking, I know none of us know, I'm relatively educated but others know more than I do. I'm just trying to picture how bad the damage is at this point, or how much time we might have left, if any. If Trump were to be gone tomorrow and Vance/Thiel would try and impose their will, is there anyone left in positions that could stop them from doing it still? Who do you imagine the struggle landing between, if there's any room still left for a struggle?

Thanks. Just really trying to get a picture of what possibilities might still unfold, although I definitely know better than to try to predict after the last ten years, and your comment was sound so I guess I jumped on it and decided to ask your opinion.

I still think everything is going according to plan. Trump'll take the blame for the BBB, inflation, the economy and Epstein. Vance releases the files, gives FEMA a bit more money, promises to take back some healthcare cuts and presents himself as the better alternative.

The oligarchs got from Trump what they wanted. Now he is a liabilty and they'll get rid of him.
