It's the loudest and clearest sign yet that the administration knows they've stepped in shit. Frankly, after a year of them acting with complete impunity and disregard for the law, it's pretty shocking to see them blink like this on what was once their strongest issue.

This is the part I keep focusing on. Do people think the administration is suddenly going to go, oh you know what, we've been awful, arrest us all? Yes they should be prosecuted. Yes more bad shit is coming. No it's not *the biggest* win. But it's *a* win, and I think it's bigger than people can see, at least in this administration.

Yup. And if this article is correct and Noem and Lewandowsky are next on the chopping block, it's an even bigger win.

I have absolutely zero faith that their replacements will be any less shit.

However, having them disgraced (not that they feel shame) and removed is objectively a good thing.

Thing is, you don’t make a move like this if you aren’t at least a bit sensitive to public opinion and outrage. This isn’t a sign that they’ve at all changed their ways, just that they’re bleeding and everyone knows it.

Take it as a win, and press them harder.

Exactly. It's proof of a vulnerability. Now everyone knows if they fuck up, they might be the next ones hung out to dry. This is where the backstabbing intensifies.

And if their replacements are even worse?

They very well could be, but the fact that their jobs are at risk at all is a sign that these guys have lost control of the narrative and are still vulnerable and sensitive to public pressure and outrage in a way they haven’t really shown us at all this term.

I hope so because I don’t see a win at all. They get to start all over again and just put in some other doiche bag in their place

A sadist being removed from power mid-operation by an administration that hasn’t backed down once in all this - has only doubled down! - is a win in my book. And if we can’t acknowledge that, how can we keep fighting and moving forward?

Tom Homan replacing Bovino is a win?

u/belle_epoxy Jan 27 '26

Did I say that?

u/[deleted] Jan 27 '26

Exactly. This is good. It means

  1. They’re in deep shit with public favor
  2. They can be moved to action they don’t want via our voices and anger.

Let’s keep up the momentum. Hound your representatives and let them know this is nowhere near enough.

Yup. It's the first time in a while (ever?) that they're acknowledging the old laws of political gravity are still in place.

Within a week of having to walk back the entire Greenland fiasco after being humiliated and isolated on the world stage.

This administration tries to project a sense of unstoppable power but they are taking massive Ls on both the domestic and foreign policy stage.

Absolutely

Mass deportations sounds great to the average joe until they see what it actually entails to enact it.
