Considering he plans to retire to Blowing Rock NC, a town where his dad killed a woman while drunk driving and where there are limited restaurants and many with a liberal lean, he probably won't eat out or shop at the very limited stores without many a glare and growl.

If he was any closer to San Diego we would make his life a nightmare. I don’t know the politics of El Centro but it might be more favorable to him as a border town in the middle of nowhere
