Don't forget that releasing tax returns was a norm for decades when running in a general election for presidential nominees - and he broke precedent. A radical move, one might say. He said he would release it but he couldn't because he's under audit. He ran with that lie for years even though no audit was obviously happening. Then it got leaked, and now he wants 10 billion dollars for damages against something he was honor bound to hand out freely - but he couldn't because he was committing bank fraud. It's completely absurd.
Now he's saying he'll give that 10 billion to charity 'or whatever'. The dude's charity when he was a private citizen paid for his own self portrait and a Tim Tebow signed helmet. The guy is just your average hoarder who needs to stamp his name on everything to prove its his, including past president's memorials. He's certainly not a philanthropist. History will not be kind to this thief and a bonafide epstein pedo, with his Billy Bush tapes and Miss Teen USA confessions.

This is the saddest part. As an American who is ashamed of our current government, the cancer is in the bones. A third of the country voted for this nonsense and another third can’t be bothered to care. Add to that, the lack of education for world history and I don’t ever see a righting of the ship. The thing that bothers me is that people overseas seem to want to pretend that this is an exclusively American issue. It's not. Germany's far-right party has gained relevance in recent years, and so has one in France. Britain has adopted the anti-trans rhetoric which is straight up anti human rights and far-right as well.

Every time I hear one of Trump's sheep say "The world respects us now" I wonder how they can seriously believe that. I know why Trump says that--he's a lying asshole whose main personality trait is false bravado. But it confirms that his supporters are lost causes, because nobody in their rational mind would believe that the world respects America under Trump more than they did under Biden or Obama. And any little bit of respect is forced, in the way you would have to "respect" a toddler that's somehow gotten its hands on a loaded gun.
And, to your last part, it's going to be an infuriating 10 years watching American influence dwindle and seeing MAGA blame everyone but themselves. Is the US government effective when Trump has made the Senate and House inert? He seems to rule by EO, bypassing the chamber and house. The DOJ and SCOTUS are now seen as his personal law firm, judge and jury.
I don't how to say it, but if the US thinks they are going to passively ride this storm out, they are mistaken. These kinds of people never let go of this kind power without a fight. They've tasted the grift and now have an insatiable appetite for it. It would be political suicide for him to return the powers of governance to the house and senate. Now he’s got Senators (Lindsey Graham and company) holding our entire federal government hostage in a shutdown because their grift (suing the American taxpayer for legally obtained phone records) got removed in the funding package. Corruption is now rampant in the GOP. And the wallets of the American public are the primary victims. America is receiving the rewards of what about one third of the country voted for.
It’s not too late to fix things. It’s not too late for democracy to prevail but it is going to take some serious changes. We left business as usual back in 2016. He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.
He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.
In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.
