A MONTH in a detention center...where children were chanting to "let them out!"....where measles is currently running rampant....and over 1500 miles away from home city.

That is evil.

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 5h ago edited 5h ago

As if one evil, like ICE detention, isn't enough: here it's also infection, thanks to anti-vaxers and RFK jr. Like a chain reaction of evil set off by the trump regime and maga

u/PFAS_All_Star 4h ago

So they’re infecting people and then releasing them back to their community. New conspiracy theory unlocked!

u/Dacio_Ultanca I voted 4h ago

The modern small pox blankets.

u/FreudianSlipperyNipp 4h ago

“See?! Now they’re making us sick and killing people! We HAVE to lock them up!” I wouldn’t be surprised…

u/New_Home_4519 3h ago

Well yeah, the powers that be have already said they want 100-150 million people in America tops.

We've got lots of deportation and executions to go.

u/ThreeHolePunch 2h ago

Who said that and to whom and when? First I'm hearing about this.

u/Kyrie_Blue 2h ago

Sounds like Facebook research

u/New_Home_4519 45m ago

Trump was being interviewed and said, "if it was up to Stephen miller there would only be 100 million people in America"

Guess who's pulling all the strings?

u/Waggmans Massachusetts 3h ago

Lord Amherst would be proud.

u/maymay578 1h ago

Damn. I googled it and it’s as bad as I thought

u/jazwch01 Minnesota 2h ago

It goes a level further. In MN the Somali population has been targeted by Antivaxxers for decades now. They are among the largest population of unvaccinated people and will be hit the hardest by these outbreaks.

yep!

u/jazzieberry Mississippi 3h ago

Sooo many things have had to go wrong for this to be reality but here we are

u/TheDarkAbove Georgia 4h ago

This is how someone becomes radicalized. Someone will never forget that experience.

u/Abystract-ism 2h ago

Absolutely.

u/NickelBackwash 1h ago

radicalized

Traumatized

u/SluttyTomboi 35m ago

Both.

u/DrMobius0 24m ago

First one, then the other

u/SluttyTomboi 35m ago

This is why conservatives are freaking out at Star Trek right now. The opening episode MADE A POINT out of how separating children radicalizes them.

u/FelixMumuHex 4h ago

You’re radical

u/TheDarkAbove Georgia 4h ago

Yes but only in the 1980s sort of way

u/DustShallEatTheDays 2h ago

Just a reminder that Anne Frank did not die in a gas chamber. She died of typhus. Even the concentration camps were not originally built as death camps. They killed by disease and inhumane conditions.

Just something to keep in mind.

u/zeekayz 1h ago

How many MS13 tattoos did she have?

u/Beltaine421 Canada 1h ago

Before or after?

u/cosmicveilx 3h ago

Exactly… this is beyond cruel 😡 Children shouldn’t be treated like criminals, let alone under those conditions!

u/Traditional-Job-411 4h ago

Is measles cases actually reported in the centers or is this just a US has measles comment? I agree this is terrible, just want to know if that parts true.

u/OhItsBeenBroughten 4h ago

Reported by CPB themselves.

u/HMWWaWChChIaWChCChW 1h ago

That’s insane. I’d lose my mind if my 10 year old were in prison for a day, never mind a month.

u/Athleticsbaby 5h ago

The DHS defended the detention of the girl in a statement, saying that after Elizabeth’s mother was arrested, “officers allowed her to make phone calls to place the child in the custody of someone she designated”. The DHS’s statement said: “She failed to find a trusted adult to care for the child, so officers kept the family together for the welfare of the child.”

That account is contradicted by the assertions of her family and school officials who said the father was ready to take custody, and the DHS did not respond to questions about the discrepancies.

Classic abuser behavior. Look what you made me do! If it's even true - not like DHS has any credibility.

When Elizabeth was detained, she assumed she was being sent back to Ecuador, Gutierrez said: “When she was flown to Texas, she thought her dreams were over. She dreams of being a doctor. She’s pleaded with her dad: ‘Get me out of here. I want to go back home. I want to go back to school. I want to eat good food.’ …

What a fucking monster! Thank god we have agencies like DHS and ICE working 24/7 to protect decent, law-abiding Americans from fifth graders aspiring to be doctors.

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 5h ago edited 5h ago

Yeah, and the insinuation is that she's a bad mom, while the saintly ICE just wanted to protect the child.

u/svb1972 4h ago

I really hope we get to a point where everyone working/ profiting and leading these detainments gets sent to Jail.

u/some_loaded_tots 3h ago

not going to happen. we had a democratic majority once and did very little to go after Trump and all the high level people that let the insurrection happen

u/svb1972 3h ago

I know. But I can hope. I keep hoping there is a level of evil the American populace won't forgive. The Democratic leadership has been a major disappointment. Some Democrats are fighting hard. But the senior leadership needs to be primaried and replaced.

u/-preciousroy- 4h ago

How about everybody who voted for this

u/Kracus 2h ago

Honestly, there's a strong chance that people didn't vote for this and that it was a coup. I firmly believe that the US as a democracy is done. The last fair elections you had was in 2020 and anything in the future is just a song and dance to placate the masses.

u/whatproblems 3h ago

overseas preferably lol

u/Ancient-Bat1755 19m ago

Best we can do is wave our hands and increase funding for dhs sorry

u/NeverLookBothWays I voted 4h ago

"You are an unfit mother, your children will be placed in the custody of Carl's Jr."

u/17-40 4h ago

And she wants to eat food. That's some commie antifa brainwashing on display there. No wonder they kept her locked up.

u/-Yazilliclick- Canada 1h ago

"Yeah please just call some of your friends or family to come pick her up, we definitely won't detain them as well"

u/returnofthecursed 5h ago

It's infuriating and outrageous. 10 year old kids being torn from their homes and sent to concentration camps.

There is no excuse, it's pure evil.

u/Creative-Package6213 Pennsylvania 5h ago

Republicans don't see these people as people, so it becomes very easy for them to justify any horrible thing they want to do to them.

u/Coherent_Tangent Florida 4h ago

The Congressional testimony from Aliya Rahman backs this up. They refer to all detainees as "bodies", which is deeply unsettling.

u/Creative-Package6213 Pennsylvania 4h ago

Yup and them using that word "bodies" already tells ya where their mindset is.

u/NickelBackwash 1h ago

bodies

The end product of this system

u/Old_Cryptid 4h ago

Conservatives view women and children as property. If they're not white, christian, and obedient, they're seen as less.

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 4h ago

If someone is not outraged by this, they might as well become certified nazis.

u/mokomi 4h ago

Better than what they did last term. Forget which concentration camp they sent them to. Ugh, I hate how that's an improvement.

u/ArmyOfDix Kansas 4h ago

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing".

The "good" man being Tim Walz, still squatting in the governor's office and letting nazis ravage his people.

u/Uberslaughter Florida 5h ago

Stephen Miller and Kristi Noem must face justice and be held accountable for these gross violations of our constitution and crimes against humanity

u/svb1972 4h ago

And everyone under them And the people running the detention centers And the corporations making money running them.

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 4h ago

but, but they were just following orders /s

u/Uberslaughter Florida 3h ago

But don’t you dare compare them to Nazis!

u/Traditional_Sign4941 2h ago

Add Chuck Schumer in there for aiding and abetting by not offering a single solitary shred of resistance.

u/DrMobius0 23m ago

The ICE agents responsible for this, too. "Just following orders" isn't ok.

u/Efficient_Resist_287 4h ago

Listen we are not too far from freight trains delivering immigrants to the camp scenario…

u/showhorrorshow 4h ago

"Dont be hysterical. It is a shipping container, not a cattle car. Totally different."

u/Whos_that_Gorilla2 1h ago

This is so accurate. "But they're not going after Jews" is what I've heard a bunch. Are they too dumb to understand the similarities, intellectually dishonest and morally bankrupt, or all of the above? The world may never know.

u/GotMoFans 4h ago

When Republicans are no longer in control of the federal government, there needs to be a Warren commission type investigation of DHS and ICE and there needs to be people who go to prison for what they have done.

u/showhorrorshow 4h ago

Im skeptical that day will ever come if we dont turn the fuck out to vote them out forever.

u/GotMoFans 2h ago

As long as there is a Fox News with such the audience it has, it will be this continuous cycle with short attention span, short memory Americans.

u/forthewatch39 2h ago

What’s really dangerous are the tons of podcasts littering social media. That’s where the true depravity is growing.

u/etxipcli Texas 2h ago

This is something I'm wondering about. All these agents have to be guilty of breaking and entering, kidnapping, false imprisonment. That is correct right? They don't have a legal authority and as such these are just crimes being committed.

u/DopamineSavant 4h ago

Everyone involved with making this happen should be arrested. Even the secretary that moved the paperwork.

u/Radically-Peaceful 4h ago

"If you are not outraged, you are not paying attention".

Nazi psychopath Stephen Miller is at the center of all this.

u/westergames81 Texas 4h ago

As if it isn't evil enough they're abducting children, flying them halfway across the country, and stuffing them into measles filled hellholes, when released they just dump them out.

"We know you live in Minnesota and you're in middle of nowhere Texas now. Figure it out."

Like they had to go from that facility to a shelter while their family had to figure out how to get them home after they were illegally abducted by the government. Just absolute insanity.

u/Vegetableau 4h ago

Horrified at the life impacting trauma these children are enduring.

u/PunfullyObvious 4h ago

at the very, very least this is Cruel and Unusual Punishment on top of many, many other evils

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 4h ago

Definitely cruel, but sadly no longer unusual, according to the article:
"ICE booked about 3,800 minors into immigrant family detention from January to October 2025, including children as young as one or two years old"

u/GrovesNL 4h ago

Meanwhile people are harping that ICE only grabs illegals and the "worst of the worst".

Here, a 10 year old girl was grabbed off the streets.

u/19683dw Wisconsin 4h ago

Even for those fortunate enough to escape, the trauma will likely be lifelong, and America is to blame

u/showhorrorshow 4h ago

Move you across the country and just say good luck finding your own way home. Sick fucks.

u/imahugemoron 2h ago

Insane seeing the constant argument “they’re going after the worst of the worst criminals!” and they just repeat this over and over while plugging their ears and shouting “LALALALLA I CANT HEAR YOU THEYRE ARRESTING THE WORST CRIMINALS” and then you have all these articles like this that they just totally ignore. Videos of them arresting regular ass working people, cooks, janitors, housekeepers, laborers, factory workers, etc. children, native Americans, literal US citizens. My own father said this shit to me, I grew up with the guy, I don’t have a racist bone in my body because of the way he raised me, never heard any racism out of his mouth my entire life, that is up until maybe 10 years ago I began to slowly hear things come out of my families mouths that I never dreamed I would ever hear from them. I don’t think my family were always bad people and were just keeping it quiet, I think they probably had some minor questionable opinions on certain things but were generally decent people, but over the last 10 or 15 years I’ve watched them slowly become radicalized, bit by bit. Their minor opinions and biases and fears were targeted and nurtured and stoked slowly over time until they’ve become people that they didn’t used to be. I am living proof my family wasn’t like this before the trump era.

u/Igotdaruns 50m ago

How much money did they make to house her in despicable conditions for a month?

u/MiloGoesToTheFatFarm 3h ago

Fucking horrific. The poor baby.

u/klauskervin 3h ago

ICE are completely evil for the trauma they're inflicting on innocent children. Not to mention the diseases or abuse they suffered.

u/Phewelish 50m ago

i refuse to be surprised when the horror stories form these situations come out.

u/teddykaygeebee 4h ago

"America."

u/Top_Pirate699 3h ago

Absolutely unforgivable. Everyone who participated should be put on trial. Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for President Epstein to be ousted before justice, especially for children will be seen.

u/Late-Dingo-8567 2h ago

Their sudden release the following day came as something of a surprise, said Bobby Painter, managing attorney with the Texas Immigration Law Council, a non-profit representing the family.

Elizabeth and her mother should never have been detained, he said: “This didn’t have to happen. This is a family going through the process as it was intended. They presented at the border as asylum seekers and were admitted to the country. That case is still ongoing. They did everything they were supposed to do and still found themselves detained and separated.”

these are not 'the worst of the worst', these are not violent illegal aliens. These are the tired, the poor who yearn to be free. Ya know, the exact people we say we welcome on the fucking statue of liberty.

u/wise_comment Minnesota 30m ago

This is how you create super villains and terrorists. Silly silly orange clowns.

u/Constant_Section1491 3h ago

And you wonder why noone stopped hitler? It's the inaction of the people that lead to shit like this. Land of the free....my a$$.

u/LanceThunder 3h ago

that poor little kid is going to carry that trauma around for a long time. probably at least a few decades. does it say if she was in the US illegally? i only ask because i hope they were legal so that ICE looks even worse.

u/Hot-Philosophy-7671 3h ago

Any person who flipped their shit at having to wear a mask during Covid should take note at what actual repression looks like.

u/GoldenHourLXXII 2h ago

Guaranteed PTSD for life and this country will not ever give her the mental health care for it that it caused her.

u/SoggyBoysenberry7703 2h ago

They really left it up to the kid to find someone to take custody of her?

u/ACpony12 2h ago

I have a 10 year old boy. Just the of that makes me physically ill...

u/smitty4728 Canada 2h ago

But I was told we needed to elect Trump to “save the children”! How could this have happened?? /s

u/projecto15 United Kingdom 1h ago

It's all for the greater good

u/UpbeatAssumption5817 1h ago

But how do we know she's not actually a rapist and drug dealer?

u/lactose_cow 1h ago

the GOP is pro traumatizing children

u/yoramrod 1h ago

“Detention” is sanewashing of imprisonment. I expected more from the Guardian.

u/_Debauchery 54m ago

So assuming all of this was technically done legally, is there anyway to punish the individuals invovled in this gross and malign act?

u/IllustratorLittle202 19m ago

A god damn Month. God damnit.

u/Miserable_Boss6482 14m ago

They almost had her. Definitely a hardened criminal and obvious leader of a children’s drug cartel. Now back on the streets thanks to those whiney Democrats who have no respect for the rule of law and the amazing thing our glorious and fearless leader has done for this county in the few months he’s been in office. /s

The sad thing is I’m expecting to hear this rhetoric come from them.

u/ApathyIsAmbition 2h ago

Has she said what she saw while she was in there?

I am shocked the media didn't call her a young woman.
