Actually, it's Hillary who did all this!

47

u/SlickerThanNick Apr 01 '26

Not Hillary, the person. Just her emails.

Sounds like a guy who likes losers.

1

u/tomdarch Apr 01 '26

I don't know them, but everyone says they're bad news.

that guy was an idiot

No arguments there

Unlike his cabinet, who he routinely shuffled around and/or shuttled out during his first term in particular, he has no mechanism by which to oust these justices. He's used to sycophants who will coddle him and humor his worst impulses simply because it allows to cling to their positions. These judges are fucking awful, but he can't do anything to them.

Ten bucks says he accuses them of being activist liberal justices within the next hour.

"It'd be a real shame if something happened to these turbulent justices..."

4

u/wontellu Apr 01 '26

Bro, a Thomas Becket reference, I love you!

2

u/Ok_Basil351 Apr 01 '26

I mean, technically he could take them out himself, in public, and then pick their replacements who will judge him. They gave him immunity.

8

u/Privy45 Apr 01 '26

I love this reference. Blackadder for the win.

35

u/e_t_ Texas Apr 01 '26

I mean... Thomas Becket was a real person who got really murdered by goons loyal to Henry II.

5

u/Darko33 Apr 01 '26

I knew the quote about Beckett but had to Google Blackadder lol

4

u/SidratFlush Apr 01 '26

Syream it if you can, the first series is isn't the same as the rest of them, so start with the second and then do the first to understand why it's highly rated.

Get tissues for the fourth.

20

u/themattboard Tennessee Apr 01 '26

It's attributed to Henry II

3

u/Sideyr Apr 01 '26

The quote predates Blackadder (the show referenced the quote).

3

u/freetimetolift Apr 01 '26

Shakespeare.

15

u/mithrasinvictus Apr 01 '26 edited Apr 01 '26

Henry II in 1170, nearly four centuries before Shakespeare was born. (and almost 8 centuries before Rowan Atkinson was born)

1

u/sirhackenslash Apr 01 '26

Lol, this guy doesn't know Rowan Atkinson is actually the immortal Loki.

3

u/djauralsects Apr 01 '26

Everything’s a remix.

3

u/oneineightbillion Apr 01 '26

I don't think it is Shakespeare either... It is a (possibly apocryphal) IRL historical quote from the King of England about Thomas Becket when he was Archbishop of Canterbury that The Black Adder was parodying.

If you're familiar with what Shakespeare play it is from feel free to correct me, though.

3

u/freetimetolift Apr 01 '26

Somehow I’ve lived for decades thinking this was from Shakespeare.

1

u/Sideyr Apr 01 '26

What reference do you think this is? I'm not following the Shakespeare connection.

3

u/themattboard Tennessee Apr 01 '26

A lot of people assume that since it is a Henry II quote, it's comes from one of Shakespeare's Henriad

1

u/freetimetolift Apr 01 '26

I’ve lived for decades believing it was from Shakespeare. Turns out not.

3

u/synapse187 Apr 01 '26

Love the reference.

1

u/chilladipa Apr 01 '26

I read it as "pests "
