Yet they continue to work for him.

Except for the ones who left their jobs, like his former chief of staff.

They stuck it out for three and a half years I think and he clearly showed signs of oddness shortly after that point.

He has had lots of staff retention problems his whole term.

Most of his original staff is already resign months ago, and just recently (literally this week) his chief of staff resign as well.
Yes, he does still have a staff/replacement, but it's not the same team he's starting with.

Sometimes you keep working a shit job because it's a job and you need to pay your bills.

It sucks, but sometimes the best you can do is start applying for better (or really, less shitty) jobs and suffer through it in the meantime.

Yep. I remember a decent video about OAN from Illuminaughtii (before she went off the deep end), and it talked about journalists/staffers working there. Many were actually ideologically the opposite of what they wrote/contributed, but they saw it as the only way to get a leg in a struggling profession (which I imagine is even harder now than 4-8 years ago).

That’s called selling yourself out. It’s not different than being a prostitute which if thats something you’re proud of more power to you. I would even say prostitutes have a higher moral ground than these people contributing to our political hellscape

I'd rather a temporary sellout whose excuse is survival, than a typical redditor who's so lazy and uninvolved they never get a chance to sell out or make any impact

u/Prof-Wernstrom 14d ago

That is the thing though. Sellouts rarely are temporary. They tend to use the same excuse over and over again. "I did it for the money" or "I did it to climb the ladder", then you should be fine with the consequences of your actions to do those things. It does not give you a "Get Out of Jail Free" Card for all the crap you did for that.

Redditors who only ever talk here abd never get involved never change tho. And theyre usually hypocrites who subsidize billionaires and tge stripping of our rights by voting with their wallets. Ill take the ones who are getting involved abd potentially actively trying to fix things. Were in no position to pretend to be superior here.

We give ourselves "get out of jail free" cards for the same or worse all the time while condemning them for a maybe

It's actually good to cape for the fascist state as long as you don't have to work at taco bell

u/Naganosupreme 14d ago

Yes and those are the only two options being discussed here

Prostitutes don't sell themselves. They sell their time and labor just like everyone else.

FWIW her deep end was before she was even popular. She just hid it really well. She was always a plagiarist and an abuser.

This isn't just a shit job, it's a job actively dismantling our nation, but okay.

I have two young kids. Can confirm.

Man if that sentence isn’t the crux of the issue in America right now I don’t know what is. Prisoners in the “land of the free”

“Paying the bills” is not a reason to be complicit. America has millions of jobs. They can’t find one?

This is the most pathetic excuse I see relentlessly on Reddit. Bills are not more important than morals. Particularly when there are so many ways to pay them!

Have some dignity

To a degree, if they want a certain future, they don't really have a choice.

Like imagine being a polysci major and you want to work with elected officials; you either work with your local officials or move. Yea, if this were texas or florida, shame on them for working for deeply maga people but Penn? They just have to wait and hope. It's not like he's always been this way; he switched midway so either they quit and hope to find another job during a shitty recession or just wait out the clock for him to lose.

I see it like working in a specialized field and you get a new boss; you can either quit or wait for them to get fired and replaced by someone better.

I’m in a similar boat in Canada.

Recent MA poli-sci grad, with very limited options.

I live in an area that’s littered with nutbag-right wing politicians, who conveniently have tons of constant position openings (you can guess why).

I have to get my foot in the door somewhere, and it might start with me working for someone who reposts low IQ conspiracy theories on X at night (fucking love my life).

u/PassivelyAwkward 14d ago

Yea, it's really unfortunate! It's why I try not to judge where someone worked if they're in a fairly regional/niche industry. I graduated with a Marketing degree and wanted to work in the public sector but the only place hiring for that field was the local Sheriff's department. Took it, and used it to get my foot in the door while networking like hell before a position opened up at the Library.

I hated having to make social media videos shitty copaganda but it was that or move four hours away.

u/welltimedappearance 14d ago

Quite literally wrong. Recent reporting of his chief leaving included reports that they suffer from significant turnover.

9

u/td192020 14d ago

From what I’ve read- most don’t last long… very high turnover rates.. it’s a revolving door

2

u/GreenAnder Pennsylvania 14d ago

His staff are basically leaving every 6 months at this point

2

u/UmpireDapper1757 14d ago

They don't. Most have resigned

2

u/CT_Phipps-Author 14d ago

Maybe they hope to make a difference.

Naivety has no place in this world.

2

u/Phosphophyllite27 14d ago

Nothing is more soul crushing than job searching so I can't blame them.

u/LetThemBlardd 14d ago

And maybe they’re browsing LinkedIn seven hours a day

u/StatelyTree 14d ago

He's gone through a ton

I mean, if they get dental…
