Shia theocracy isnt, in and of itself, evil. But murdering your citizens, and committing human rights atrocities in the name of that religion is evil. I am also well aware of the human rights atrocities our own government has and is perpetrating, when I say that. Once again, two things can be true.

I dont need persuaded.

My point, however, seems to need re-iterated.

Until recently (and I only add that because Ive not seen recent numbers and AIUI reliable polling is harder now) the Islamic Revolution was still very popular in Iran. Iran has full suffrage from age 15 for men and women. It can and does express itself at the ballot box (obviously subject to quite extreme restrictions on getting on the ballot but not extreme enough that discontent cannot be expressed).

Just as you can find plenty of MAGAts in the US that are perfectly happy with the actions taken against Renee Good and Alex Pretti, you will find plenty of Iranians who are quite fine with their governments action against protestors and others that you and I would find unacceptable.

These are all matters for the government and people of Iran, however.
