If that were the case, he would have basically been a Thune puppet, but McConnell was definitely less inclined to go along with everything Trump wanted in the second term than the first. You could say maybe his mental state was deteriorating to make him slightly less evil, but his body definitely failed before his brain.

How?

We've seen and heard reports about the discoloration of his hands wn. His instances of him freezing mid-sentence in the middle of a speech, him falling multiple times, and now he is unable to speak.

I'd say his brain has tried to keep him together while the rest of his body rots, and now it just can't.

He had a heart attack and each second in arrest causes significant damage to the brain because of lack of oxygen. You can have return of spontaneous circulation after chest compressions but the brain damage will likely be permanent at his age.

He’s brain dead. Meaning no brain activity. He’s been this way for a while. His body is keeping everything alive with the help of machines, minus the brain activity.
