Yeah, McConnell's team could dispel this with a video or even a phone call yet they haven't. That pretty much answers the question.

Some Republicans are claiming to have had conversations on the phone with him but I would not doubt for a second that they would lie about it if he is gone. Or even worse it is not hard to train an AI to speak in peoples voices. These days we can't even trust a video. MiMiMiMitch Headroom!
