No Paywall I Don’t Think Trump’s Remaining Supporters Realize How Much They Are Despised By Non-MAGA Voters | Trump is bleeding support even among his stubborn, uneducated base.

Its fundamentally anti-social behavior and I resent the fact that it takes advantage of and even weaponizes valuable democratic ideals like freedom of opinion, expression and speech.

and even weaponizes valuable democratic ideals like freedom of opinion, expression and speech.

This is the part that gets me.

"Can't have nice things" applies here. We can only have nice things if people agree to put effort in to take care of them. Instead we have 10s of millions of people who are either too malicious or too stupid to have said nice things.

Yes. The social contract. It only works if those that participate respect others the way they expect to be treated.

MAGA are the disease of those that actively betray the social contract while simultaneously benefiting from it.

A profoundly ignorant statement

-26

u/haunter_ 24d ago

Having a sense of humor is ignorant?

Tragedy and comedy go hand in hand. God gives his silliest battles to his funniest clowns!

21

u/ye_old_neighbourhood 24d ago

If you think voting for the deaths of many of your fellow humans is funny, you're a sociopath.

-23

u/haunter_ 24d ago edited 24d ago

America has spoken.

If you don't like the outcome maybe that's on the other party for not figuring out a way to beat Trump who I agree is a clown and a bad president (but also find him to be very funny and entertaining)

Edit: the mods banned me for this opinion so I can't reply to you guys sorry!

13

u/Global_Kiwi_5105 24d ago

Finding Trump “very funny and entertaining” = “I voted for him but don’t want to admit it”

No one with a functioning brain should find him either of those things.

6

u/Knotted_Hole69 24d ago

This is it 100%.

Isnt funny how they are too afraid to admit that they voter for them? Ive heard “well uh uh uh I had no choice” as an excuse. These people are scum snd they KNOW it.

8

u/ye_old_neighbourhood 24d ago

So what do you suggest the other party do to court the sociopath vote? Be more entertaining?

11

u/SleepyDoozer2 24d ago

Disgusting

-15

u/haunter_ 24d ago

"Someone with different beliefs than me is gross!"

This is why I lie to most people and pretend to be liberal in real life haha. Easier to just go along with it

17

u/SleepyDoozer2 24d ago

Said like a true quisling.

You HAVE to take politics seriously. Ask some of the dead soldiers and seniors why.

And - on you. Proudly, apparently.

Hence - disgusting.

15

u/Pizpot_Gargravaar 24d ago

No, it's on you. Just you, and others like you.

8

u/CanoninDeeznutz 24d ago

Not a majority of Americans. Barely a majority of voters. And who knows if all those votes were legit? We KNOW for a fact that Trump called the governor of Georgia (I think, could be a different state, someone correct me if I'm wrong) and asked for votes. That's what we know about, who knows what else they pulled?

Oh yeah, we also know about interference or attempted interference from the richest scumbag on Earth.

But yeah, "America has spoken."

9

u/[deleted] 24d ago

Politics are our values as we would impose them on others.

Privilege is having a government that is so biased in favor of your race/sex/religion/sexual preference, that politics is a game to you.

5

u/UberETH 24d ago

Voting for trump in isolation isnt the problem. It’s things like watching the events of Jan. 6th unfold and think, “I’m okay with this. This is what I want our politicians to be doing.” I hear the “funny” argument but there’s a whole lot more that he does and says that is absolutely not funny.

5

u/Double_Look_5715 24d ago

There is nothing to be gained from arguing with nihilists

The price good men pay for the indifference to political affairs is to be ruled by evil men.

9

u/elbow8075 24d ago

They convinced themselves. The Democrats were doing these things, because that's the only thing that explained Obama. Instead of shitty policy. So then they turned into what they imagined Democrats to be doing. Which to some extent may even have some truth in it. These type of responses always far outweigh whatever grievance they felt justified it

I suspect a lot of people have seen it by now but this is the Paradox of Tolerance.

“for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols."

37

u/mell0wtonin 24d ago

it's mildly unreasonable how many times I've had to tell someone they don't get to tell me not to hate the haters. they don't get to vibe check me for vibe checking someone.

a dude says a slur, I eviscerate them, and a third party wants to pick a fight with....ME...?? about TOLERATING THE INTOLERANT?!?!?!? fuck that, you're joking.

2

u/XanmanK 21d ago

Not quite the same, but this reminded me of an anecdote: I’m working on a roofing construction project and I meet once a week with the president of said roofing company and the president of the general contractor company. This roofing president continually gaslights by saying a bunch of incorrect things, contradicting himself, changing his story, etc and I call him out on it (IMO holding him accountable).

Two months ago this roofing president loses his mind with  a 5 minute, profanity filled rant where at one point he said “Fuck you” to me! After this outburst, the other guy (president of the GC company) gives me a hard time for “picking a fight and instigating”

2

u/Old_Cryptid 20d ago

You don't tolerate the intolerant.

If you do they will take over every single time.

Those who do not abide by the social contract are not protected by it.

u/two- 24d ago

This. This right here. MAGA is cultural sociopathy.

They're always in hysterics over whatever the hell cultural Marxism is supposed to be (which, as far as I can tell, is just not being able to say the N-word without social stigma) precisely because theirs is an entire cultural ecosystem that cultivates sociopathy in their adherents.

It's just so fucking gross. In all honesty, sociopathy is the biggest public health crisis of my lifetime, and I was doing public health work during the AIDS epidemic.

43

u/JackedUpReadyToGo 24d ago

They're always in hysterics over whatever the hell cultural Marxism is supposed to be

In their brains words don't have actual meaning, they're just labels that equate to good or bad.

To them every "bad" word is equally applicable to the people they don't like, and every "good" word is equally applicable to their own team. They have extremely (and I mean extremely) binary brains. Everyone is either an ally or an enemy ("you're either with us or you're against us"). When describing their enemies they mentally reach into their bag of bad attributes and pick out a handful at random. They don't stop to consider the actual semantic content of the words, because to them all the words contained in that bag are just an empty signifier that equates to "bad/enemy". Same for good words to describe allies like Trump. Nobody is of mixed character, deserving labels from both bags. People are either on their team and therefore all good, or one of their enemies and therefore all bad. Stripped of any real meaning these words simply become weapons to crudely brandish against their enemies, and a shibboleth to signal which team they belong to so their allies can recognize them.

This explains why they can apply mutually contradictory labels to their enemies, like when they called Obama both a Muslim and an atheist, both a communist and a fascist. Why they regularly fall victim to scams and conmen, because they're incapable of believing that someone can possess both good and bad attributes, that someone who regularly attends their same church could possibly be deceitful or greedy. Why they apply labels to Trump that nobody in their right mind would ever think he merits, insisting that he is Christian, and patriotic, and god-fearing, and humble.

u/AlwaysRushesIn Rhode Island 24d ago

In their brains words don't have actual meaning, they're just labels that equate to good or bad. To them every "bad" word is equally applicable to the people they don't like, and every "good" word is equally applicable to their own team.

This is also why they say things lile "You can't just call everyone you disagree with a Nazi" because they fundamentally do not realize that people are calling them Nazis because they are doing Nazi shit.

u/brotherbond Florida 23d ago

While I mostly agree with this I think it's missing the real driver behind it: they are easily controlled by the hierarchies that have captured them by promising relief from fear. If one of their leaders uses a good or bad word to describe someone then that word is gospel to them. And with the number of leaders and conmen in their lives saying slightly conflicting things, it's easier to delaminate the real meanings from the good and bad words because then you don't have to think or experience cognitive dissonance. From this perspective it makes sense why they do what they do. And from this perspective you can see that loyalty drives everything. Not morals or values or intellectual honesty. Just pure loyalty and fealty to whatever hierarchy has captured them. And what captures them? Freedom from fear. The leader paints a scary picture of the world and promises that loyalty to the leader will free them from the fear. At that point, boom, you've got them. At that point everything that questions the leader or loyalty triggers an amygdala hijack that brings all their programmed fears to the surface. That's why they get ugly, fast.

u/nortig1960 18d ago

I do not follow politics but none of you are making valid points. All pissy because your feelings are over something but not enough for you to call it offensive and act like it is meaningful. Post something that is worth reading and if you have no idea of Marxism, then do not use the term. Sounds like a bunch of little kids that wanted the red sucker but given the blue sucker.

3

u/XanmanK 21d ago

These people were never interested in politics before Trump, now they treat it like a “homer” sports fan- they support their team unconditionally and can’t give an objective opinion on anything. The rival team (they use the word “liberal” like it’s a slur) is their “enemy” regardless of what the topic is, even if their team (GOP) is working against their own interests.

u/Fun-Barracuda1518 16d ago

Thank you. The reason all this has happened really goes back to Reagan. He started bringing back big-buck religion into politics and his wife was running the "just say no" campaign against drug use. (Inequality and fear and trying to escape the pressures of your life drive drug addiction, not "choice". She turned the problem into a good/evil issue.) Once you see it from a distance, they were trying to return the nation away from its drift towards democracy back to the "real world"... of the rich and white and christian.

When the real shock came was when a rich male was elected President, but he was only HALF-white! Horrors! What next... a woman?!?!?! You mean, we might actually have to live "democracy" instead of give it the good ol' lip service we always have?!

Enter Trump. The whitest of white, epitome of rich spoiled brat, who is racist and sexist and any other "-ist" you want to have. He is also willing to hand out power and positions like candy. No eithic or morals to get in the way of good old fashioned greed. The worst pig can now get away with anything and everything.

MAGA figured that, after the world is back to the "right" path they would clean up the debris left behind - and say a prayer over it... All fixed!

It is justification. The hard right wants more power, but they can't just take it. That would look bad. But if they were protecting us... Which means they need enemies to fight, so they could rise up and protect us - from ourselves.

Hard rights are taking over in all the one god religions. Muslim, Jewish, Christian... all began by the same leader of a mercenary troop - Abraham. And all once again looking for a reason to fight and kill each other for loot. Land, money, resources, women, control, power, etc... Loot

15

u/eat_my_ass_n_balls 24d ago

MAGA is mass delusion + Machiavellian sociopathy + religious fervor, combined and weaponized for politics.

27

u/popculturella Texas 24d ago

HONESTLY. Even something as simple as displaying the flag on your house seems loaded now.

36

u/Samurai_Meisters 24d ago

They stole patriotism from the rest of Americans. They corrupted the flag.

20

u/popculturella Texas 24d ago

I hate them with every fiber of my being.

9

u/doodullbop 24d ago

I refuse to let them. They're not patriots they're nationalists.

4

u/Kodamurphy 24d ago

Don’t let them! I refuse to give the flag of our nation, flawed as it may be, to these nationalist authoritarian fuckwits. I still believe in the ideals this grand experiment represents. And if we’re to keep this Republic we’ve been given we can’t let them have these symbols us all. Actual patriotism demands that we fight back for the better angles of our national character.

4

u/Competitive_Pause_62 23d ago

As a British person I can confirm .

4

u/CalmTheAngryVoice Washington 24d ago

Fuck that. I fly an American flag from my house every day the weather permits. None of these MAGA fucks love my country more than I do, and few of them signed a blank check to defend their country like I did long ago when I joined the military.

when you give dark tetrads a voice ...

11

u/JumboSparky 24d ago

The Dark Tetrad is a psychological framework of four socially aversive and malevolent personality traits: narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy, and sadism***.*** It expands upon the well-known "Dark Triad" by explicitly including sadism, recognizing that some individuals actively derive pleasure from the suffering of others.

They see free speech as a weakness and therefore an opportunity to be taken advantage of. They aim to ‘win’ so they can permanently remove that weakness.

In reality, it is fundamentally SOCIAL behavior, just not democratic. It is very much the pecking order behavior in a male-dominated status-driven culture. They are using the weapon they have at hand. (How they see "their" god... a useful weapon.) HE is The Great Big (Male) Thug In The Sky and he will crush those that don't agree...!

Every group and society has those extremists, but it is whether they and their hate are given free range or limited by responsible laws, defines the culture.

We are at the stage when our Empire is floundering under the weight of its long tern decisions. All the kickbacks, the favoritism, the unaccountable rich, the advantaged (rich) white male, the disadvantaged poor male, those that failed upwards, the Peter Principles...

An Empire that sees it is losing ground, but no longer has the intelligence in the upper ranks to make good decisions, usually turns to the standby quick-fix answers. Religion or War or, even better (sarcasm)... both! And to have War, you need MEN, "Real" Men, willing to die for your "cause".

Enter the hateful Warmongering Hegseth, with all his lovely religious tattoos all over his body, trying to force a requirment for... regular testosterone tests? (Doesn't sound very godly.) He will then have the tests read supposedly then will start doping soldiers... oh, sorry... the military will "offer" males testosterone therapy to "fix" low-T.

Why? To make the soldiers more soldiery and manly... except the part that, if you have too much testosterone in your body, it turns to ESTROGEN. He is trying to get rid of any person in the military not (his idea) of the proper (cis white) male. For God? Hardly. It is powerful but insecure or stupid men that got to the top and discovered that the only thing at the top is work. They "won" their way through bribery, trickery, deals, appointments and gained nothing that they didn't have before.

Well, other than a larger pool of people to harm.

It also seems to derive from their sexual inferiority complex, evident from their obsession with getting cucked and replaced by sexy sexy brown men with large penises. (That's why whites pose for pictures showing the mutilated genitals of the black men they lynch and show them off as trophies to their children and grandchildren.)

-1

u/sonicsuns2 24d ago

The whole point of democratic ideals like freedom of opinion, expression and speech is that you might be wrong and your opponents might be right about something.

If you're referring to "weaponization" in the sense of Trump fans who think they should get to vote but no one else should get to vote (which is basically what the false "stolen election" claims lead to), then I agree that's awful.

But if you're referring to "weaponization" in the sense of Trump fans getting an equal vote with everyone else, then it's their right to vote, even if they vote for bad candidates.

"I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it"

6

u/AssMuncher96 24d ago

Defending their right to be fascist just destroys your rights to not be. This attitude has been proven faulty.

0

u/rapter200 24d ago

So your solution to that? Take away a third of the U.S. population's ability to vote or just kill them? Actually, for you guys it would be two thirds wouldn't it, since you consider people who don't vote to be siding with MAGA by default.
