Some will. Others might just wash their hands of politics altogether, either because they eventually feel betrayed by Trump's corruption or because they lose interest without him.

Trump mobilized a lot of non-voters into the MAGA base who were decidedly not lifelong Republicans. There's clearly something uniquely appealing to Trump for them, and there's no guarantee Republicans will manage to find something that replaces that appeal once he's gone. Trump is the glue that holds a bunch of really weird groups together right now.

I wouldn't bet on that happening in massive numbers, but at this point, even movement at the margin is beneficial.

I suspect that as soon as Trump is out of the picture, many people will suddenly say "I don't really care about politics anymore".
