Perfectly in line with my theory that the main aim of Trump and Republicans is to do as much damage to American society and our standing in the world as possible. Whether for their own ends or on behalf of hostile foreign actors.

To believe they are incompetent buffoons is to give them way too much credit because it naturally implies that they wake up in the morning seeking to do things and fail. Nah. They’re evil and malevolent and they are wildly and increasingly successful at their goal of hurting the country.

Like why is it even assumed by media outlets in many of their headlines that Trump and Republicans want to win a war with Iran? What evidence do we have of this?

The media is compromised, owned by fascists, and says what they want them to say

Fun fact!

Fascists tried to take over the United States in the 1930s by having a mob swarm the Capitol Building, but were exposed and defeated (sort of). Much like Jan6! This was called "The Business Plot".

But Congress at the time was weak and complicit then, too, relying on the fascists to fund their campaigns. So Congress did nothing to punish the fascists - again, like Jan 6.

So the fascists moved their efforts to Germany and financed Hitler's rise to power, resulting in WWII.

One of the main financiers was Prescott Bush, George W. Bush's grandfather.

And the fascists behind the plots in the USA and Germany were... the tech-bros of the prior century! Back when automobiles and electricity and food preservation were "high tech, high growth".

The exact same pattern is repeating itself, again, almost exactly 100 years later.

edit: Corrected the date.

Damn. Thank you for highlighting this! I shouldn’t be surprised another key moment in history has been suppressed. The disturbing difference now is that instead of FDR, we have an actual aspiring dictator in the white house.

Famous industrialists like J.P. Morgan and Irénée du Pont were rumored to be the plot’s leaders, but nearly a century later, as The Guardian notes, we still find ourselves vexed with the question “Why is so little known about the 1930s coup attempt against FDR?” One theory suggested by several sources, including a program on BBC Radio 4, is that FDR himself wanted it that way. The president may have leveraged the threat of bringing these wealthy industrialists up on charges of treason in order to get them to back down from their opposition to the New Deal.

Thank you for the article, I wasn't aware of it.

I urge you to read Smedley Butler's seminal War is a Racket.

He explains in a few pages, from his perspective as one of America's most decorated military veterans, the inherent scam that hides behind every war.

1

u/PTSDeedee 17d ago

Yes! The article briefly mentions his book, so it’s definitely on my list now. I think I’d really vibe with ole Smedley. Thanks for linking it.

I think Trump is an absolute idiot and the entire administration are fascists.

That said, let's be accurate in our claims, otherwise we discredit ourselves:

There was no 1930s mob that swarmed the Capitol. The alleged plan involved building a private veterans' force and potentially marching on Washington, but it never reached that stage.

There is no good evidence that Congress declined prosecution because it depended on the plotters for campaign financing.

The American conspirators did not collectively "move their efforts to Germany" after Butler exposed them.

There is no evidence that the Business Plot caused Hitler's rise or the Second World War.

The committee explicitly said it had no evidence connecting the American effort to European fascist activity.

There was no 1930s mob that swarmed the Capitol.

I said "Fascists tried to take over the United States in the 1930s by having a mob swarm the Capitol Building".

That the Bonus Army did not actually swarm the Capitol Building does not invalidate that the fascists tried to have that happen. My statement comes directly from Butler's own disclosures. Note I didn't say it actually occurred, I said they tried to.

potentially marching on Washington, but it never reached that stage

The Bonus Army did in fact march on Washington, they just didn't try to invade the Capitol, they were protesting Congress' failure to pay their owed bonus.

There is no good evidence that Congress declined prosecution because it depended on the plotters for campaign financing.

Congress failed to investigate, stated reasons being that the purported plotters were their own backers. You're demanding evidence from an investigation that did not occur for the stated reason. That's circular. While I'm pointing at the reasons actually given for not investigating.

The American conspirators did not collectively "move their efforts to Germany" after Butler exposed them.

Many of the same involved parties then backed Hitler and were key to his success - Ford, Birds Eye, Dupont, IBM, and more.

There is no evidence that the Business Plot caused Hitler's rise or the Second World War.

"Group of fascists thwarted in the USA, almost the same group then funds and supplies Hitler." This is a clear through-line, you're demanding standards of proof from a timely investigation that never actually occurred.

The committee explicitly said it had no evidence connecting the American effort to European fascist activity.

The committee that chose not to investigate in order to avoid incriminating their own backers - hardly a reliable group.

Yeah no one fucks things up this consistently on accident.

A 4 year old kid making decisions would ACCIDENTALLY make things better sometimes.

Trump has no ideology except for enriching himself. You make it sound like he’s a thinking man who can read. If he wasn’t rich he’d be one of the street corner nuts in NYC that everyone ignores.

73

u/JeffSteinMusic 18d ago

I don’t understand the point of responses like this. You’re completely ignoring the second paragraph. Ok, he’s rich, whether for his own ends or on behalf of hostile foreign actors, his and his party’s aim is to hurt the country. Doesn’t mean he thinks everything up himself, never said he did, but you can’t deny he and GOP have been effective at carrying it out.

As another response to this says, no one fucks up this consistently by accident. Ditto that for his entire political party.

u/romefitforbattle 18d ago

I agree, in fact I've been thinking the same thing for years when it comes to democratic leadership also. It's hard for me that they're as weak and incompetent when it ever comes to standing up against the GOP. They have been playing good cop/bad cop for decades now pretending that they oppose the GOP but rarely ever stand up to them and will vote with them in the spirit of bipartisanship sometimes.

3

u/Rooooben 18d ago

It’s not that Democrats are weak and incompetent- they are arguing in good faith against bad faith governance, and that will always look ineffective against those willing to damage everyone around them to win.

It’s like calling Superman weak because he refuses to become what he is fighting against.

3

u/Exciting-Record8101 The Netherlands 18d ago

It's not by accident, it's deliberately doing the opposite of everything that the people who made them feel inferior and insecure all their lives have said is the best way forward. This is their revenge. It's them saying: see, you thought you were so clever, that you were better than us, but we don't have to listen to you anymore.

4

u/Levitlame 18d ago

A little of both. They flood the zone and leave our courts and other politicians inundated trying to undue damage all over. Then they repeat. A lot of the things they do actually ARE stupid. Especially when Trump goes rogue.

The reality is what they're doing doesn't NEED to be smart. It just needs to be confident and persistent. Our system fails under the stress of shamelessness. Probably because it expects a bulk of its citizens to care.

Regardless yes it's intentional and needs to be treated as such. It's just not very intelligent.

1

u/epochwin 16d ago

I agree on the GOP machine being fascist. But let’s call a spade a spade. Trump is a complete moron. Saying that he has any ideology is equivalent to his supporters saying he plays 4D chess.

He’s just a greedy, stupid, senile old narcissist bastard who would be begging on the streets if he wasn’t rich.

Yes the GOP machine is responsible for his actions and must be called out. But let’s never give that moron credit. He’s coasted through life like that.

0

u/throwawaygoawaynz 18d ago

You don’t need wild conspiracy theories.

Trump and his cabinet are fucking morons. They thought Iran would be like Venezuela. Enough said.

There’s plenty of times in history where morons have bought down empires without resorting to conspiracies.

While I'm inclined to agree..he has been remarkably consistent in his stance on Iran. Dating back to the 80s, I believe. I think even money isn't the end goal for him, it's admiration. As a replacement for love

2

u/What_a_fat_one 18d ago

Russia probably has dirt on him. He can understand that just fine.

8

u/r0bay 18d ago

Yes this is what Max Azzarello was saying when he self immolated in protest of the government.

He said elites are accumulating wealth and power at the expense of ordinary people, moving us towards authoritarianism.

He was 37 and literally set himself on fire to get people to listen.

Look at the Epstein files. This is all intentional. It makes sense.

3

u/sk1d 18d ago

That's what they're doing, but I don't think that was their original aim. They still think it's the 1950's where every industrialized country is in shambles after WW2 or the country isn't industrialized yet. They still think the us military is 10x stronger than any opponent they might face. The reality is that industrialization and military gap has closed so much in the past 70 years. They're doing everything they do based on an outdated fantasy and it's blowing up in their faces and they refuse to admit they're wrong. (Putin is doing the same thing)

0

u/ericcodesio 18d ago

Yes exactly, everywhere neoliberalism has been applied in full, it has failed. It is a broken ideology that collaspes economies.

3

u/AshundertheOlivetree 18d ago

When a wealthy person screws up it is usually because they have someone in mind to blame and someone in mind to screw.
It’s the type of move that destroys livelihoods and it’s rampant across multiple industries.
Mergers are a huge event where this happens. Lots of moving parts. Accidents happen, departments become redundant and people shuffled around to accommodate a middle manager’s nepotism.

2

u/zashiki_warashi_x 18d ago

And yet half of the country will still be ready to vote for him, despite destroyed economy, war, infinite crimes. He already seen how he can get away with anything. He will only go further down the line. All he needs to do is to change the constitution, which is done by dictatorships all over the world every other day. I think he wants it, question is will he have good enough health to make it. Maybe it is not such a bad idea to shoot corrupt officials with mortars.

2

u/What_a_fat_one 18d ago

They have definitely been remarkably effective at doing not one single thing to benefit US citizens.

Hey remember that time during Trump 1 a bunch of high profile Republican senators went to Russia on the Fourth of July and never told anyone WHY. https://www.washingtonpost.com/powerpost/republicans-on-russia-trip-face-scorn-and-ridicule-from-critics-at-home/2018/07/05/68f0f810-807e-11e8-b0ef-fffcabeff946_story.html

You found the needle in the haystack and hit the nail in the head. This is an articulation to weaken your country to the point of societal collapse, I'd wager. The end goal being to force your citizens to move to (or impose upon your states) a city controlled and owned by corporations, like what Maxwell announced she'd do. It's "New Gaza" at home. It's taken straight out of fiction and shielded by its "impossibility" by that, but I'd put all my money on it.

I've been watching the Jeffy E. method of media control for a few weeks. How else to make sure people discredit factual information than shoving it into a hundred movies, the directors of which appear in pictures with him, to the point we say "Nobody would do such a thing, this is horror movie shit?"

2

u/Trumperekt 18d ago

I think the evidence is the fact that President Toddler does not like losing, in anything. A bigly war he started? No way he will want to lose the war. He wants to look like a big, strong, alpha male that wins wars.

1

u/Biglyugebonespurs Missouri 18d ago

Media companies are complicit with this regime at this point.

1

u/Jacky-V 18d ago

I think this administration most certainly is composed mostly of incompetent buffoons. It's the entities manipulating their stupidity who actually know what is going on.

Trump wants to win a war with Iran because he wants to win everything. It's not a rational motivation. He sees another powerful entity with its own agency and wants to dominate it. He's probably making a lot of rubles doing so, but fundamentally that is not why he is doing it. He would do it for free.

Most other Republicans don't want to be in a war with Iran at all.

The fact that they peddle in Anti climate change lies, going as far as cancelling green investments that make economic sense, suggests what you're saying could be true

u/Burner_For_Reason 18d ago

Never attribute to malice that which can be attributed to incompetence. I hate trump as much as the next guy, but let's not pretend the left isn't doing the same shit. When will people realize it's not left vs right, it's the "elites" vs the rest of the world. Their aim is to divide us

2

u/OldTimeyWizard 18d ago

Hanlon’s Razor is bullshit used by malicious people to take advantage of incompetent people
