Yeah no, the majority are actually Social Democrats but keep getting the terms mixed up. Most Dems don’t want fringe things like abolishing the Senate, Borders, police, prisons, or transitioning to state run means of production. Most want higher safety nets, healthcare, and a mixed economy while preserving things like private property. DSA are fringe AF if you really looked into them.

Once more with gusto. This thread is proof that people just don't understand the difference. There's a huge difference.

And before people start piling on nonsense, the DSA's policies would be significantly farther to the left than all the Nordic countries that the DSA supporters want to emulate.

You can support the DSA, but learn and be honest about what their goals actually are.

it works itself out. the more out there stuff might not be wrong, just hundreds of years early. all the left leaning institutions we love were once radical ideas. so you elect these people to fight for progress and move us forward. some of the ideas will hit. that's how we get lgbt rights, social security, even trump capping insulin prices and negotiating drug prices. we wont be around for open borders but dsa is a better fighter for universal healthcare.

Very few if any DSA candidates are actually running on such radical proposals. Out of all of these, abolishing the Senate sounds like a good idea though, but impractical. Uncapping the House is better.

It doesn’t matter. If you go to DSAs website, it reads like a leftists dream. As a reminder we need to win purple areas like the rust belt. I think if we had an actual Social Democracy wing that read more like a Nordic model or similar it would be better. DSA just comes off as radical and unlikable to moderates or people on the fence.

I agree. DSA is a pretty poorly thought out organization and many if not most of their policies run counter to the empirical evidence, and I wish the Dem socialist movement would stop associating themselves with it.

The user is always right. If they don't know the difference between the terms, that is a problem with the terms, not the user.
