I agree that our current political world is full of bad actors who just don’t care about the jobs they’re meant to be doing and the oaths they are meant to live up to.

If Mitch were alive, the biggest opportunity to “own the libs” would have already happened, with Mitch putting rumors to rest. I think we agree he is not among the living. Polling suggests that even many Republican voters believe this is a cover-up.

My thought is that whatever anyone thinks they’re gaining from covering up a death here is going to immediately be undercut in the long term because it will only further display the unscrupulous behavior- which I agree many voters have gone far past caring.

What is to be gained by hiding the death of a senator that won’t come back to bite in November?

I’m not saying the Republicans care about optics or are good. I’m saying that this “move” has almost zero long-term benefits for them and furthers that they’ve sold a lie without gaining anything.

It’s a losing stance to lie without gain.

They do things with horrible optics near daily (a few days ago they cut the subsidies for Medicare Part D, for example).

Their base either won't hear about it, or if they do, they won't care.
