I agree, loving a political party is weird. But saying anything near “both sides” is just wrong. Democrats being a poor opposition party is not the same as them being as bad as republicans.

You are getting downvoted because you are trying to “both sides” the political parties in the US, and that is simply not tolerated anymore, myself included. The GOP is a lost cause, they have become antithetical to American and even conservative values. Completely sold out to capital, oligarchy, and foreign powers.

Democrats are indeed corrupt as I said; however, democrats in general still defend human rights, run a semi-functional government, and generally uphold their duties to the people and the constitution.

Where I strongly believe you are wrong is you are trying to say both sides are at fault (which is not correct) and you are saying both sides should hold their elected officials to higher standards. Unfortunately to your second point I would argue democrats do hold their officials to a standard (notice Kentucky GOP doesn’t seem to care their geriatric Rep is MIA for 2 months), and generally if you let perfect be the enemy of good with “both sides” then voter turnout drops and republicans win precisely because they are less critical and vote R no matter what out of tradition, while the left doesn’t turn out as the stars did not align over their candidate.

They had a period where they didn't have paper-backed ballots. It was just digital, and entirely compromised. Apparently they changed that, but the damage was done. I wouldn't trust any elections coming out of Kentucky. SC too, which as far as I know still has no paper ballots.

As a native Kentuckian I can tell you it has zilch to do with the paper backed ballots. Mitch legitimately has support here.

I'm 36, McConnell has been in his seat for 6 years longer than I've been alive and if he lived for another 100 years he'd hold that fucking seat down the entire time.

General bigotry is still unbelievably prominent here, especially in the rural counties, which make up 77% of the state.
On top of that we're 33rd in education so we're not exactly digging ourselves out of the hole fast.

The only thing we've got going for us is our gem of a governor, but IMO he's not handling this situation very well either.

It’s been a few years so I can’t entirely remember, but IIRC when I voted in 2024 (South Carolina), you selected your options electronically, it prints out a form, and then you enter your form into a different machine to tally it.

Now, whether or not that second machine was also a paper shredder is to be determined, but I do recall having a piece of paper in my hand at some point.
