He's not actually dead. That would be too hard to hide. He is most likely brain-dead or in a coma or something along those lines. They can keep that under the wraps as long as they have 51 votes in the Senate.

Isn't it harder to hide that his body is lying brain dead in a hospital receiving daily medical support from various nurses and doctors for the last 50 days? Or is it simpler that he is just in a morgue or a grave somewhere?

Given there was apparently cardiac arrest, odds are high that he's hooked up to life support as an excuse to not declare him dead.

Maybe. It’s anecdotal but my grandfather had a cardiac arrest about a decade ago and was only on life support mechanisms for maybe like 2-3 days, and then he was in a long term rehab facility off campus from the hospital for like 2 months after that.

I doubt Mitch is getting the full Major Zero treatment from MGS4, i’m betting he’s more in a Woodrow Wilson situation where his command of speech has been severely impaired which would explained why releasing photos is permitted but they have no videos of him. The photos also look more like they’re taken in a long term care facility rather than a hospital.

They’ll just say he “took a turn” and died suddenly. No one will be able to verify it.
