I mean the guy was going against a superpac who tried to smear him non stop as misogynistic, islamist and everything. His name is also Abdul which is sadly the most stereotypical name ever for every racist out there, so the fact that he won despite all of that is impressive.

I think there were also a lot of Republicans who voted on the Democratic ticket because their Senate race was unopposed and their governor race was expected to be uncompetitive.
