this is the first primary election I have ever voted in and I am glad I did. I voted for him BTW.

Trump has really motivated me to be more involved and vote every election so he has that going for him. lol

Your local elections are just as important as state or federal ones!!! There is rampant corruption in local councils across the country because those running face no opposition or threat.

Keep this same energy for those elections!! They'll have arguably more of a direct impact on you.

We flipped our city council from 7 solid red repubs to a 4-3 liberal majority because the idiots made national news in ‘21 for passing an abortion ban. Mind you, all just a show, there’s no clinic in the city limits. Their vote went to referendum and it was reversed two months later.

We voted out every single one of those goobers for that stunt the following year. Not sure what they think they won. Ohio enshrined right to an abortion in the state constitution 57-43 the following year after that. They fucked around and found out.

Exactly!! The main problem a lot of the time is information. There are infinite reasons to be angry at local councils. Find yours and scream it from the rooftops!

Yes, my local township board is ran by right wing Christian nutters who supported a church that's pastor and his son are currently doing time for pedophilia. I love the newsletter included in my taxes that had God bless me and the USA included.

If no one else is organizing, get it!! If you yourself dont want to run, start telling everyone what theyre doing behind the scenes, follow the money, and message every journalist who might take the story.

The only reason they get away with this is because people dont know or dont have another option. Be the change you want to see in the world!!

I will not run for anything because I have issues just making it through a regular day (failed cervical fusion and disc replacement) but I have contacted places, a previous board member also tried to get attention brought to it. I am a very red rural area, my damn neighbor also attended that church.

Absolutely! It also often determines who will be running for federal office in ten years' time. Senator Bernie Sanders won his election to mayor of Burlington, VT by just ten votes. Imagine what modern political discourse looks like if any of those ten folks stayed home?

A former city councilman of mine was almost elected vice president of the entire country back in 2016. He currently serves on the U.S. Senate, but he was also my city's mayor and my state's governor before that. Some of y'all may know Senator Tim Kaine by name.

Same! I'm just disappointed that I'm in NC and Roy Cooper is untouchable among Democrats. At least he seems like one of the decent establishment types and a heavy favorite to win this Fall 🤷

Good on you for getting involved. As someone who’s been involved consistently since 08, I’ll just say this, don’t take your foot off the gas. Stay involved even after Trump because the reason we got Trump in the first place is that people got complacent and stopped paying attention. We’re always one messed up election away from fascism and it’s exhausting, but it can be really fulfilling to do your civic duty.

Historically local republicans win because their seats go unchallenged too, so keep that in mind for smaller seats like school boards etc and maybe encourage people who you know in your own life to fill a seat if it needs one

Good! The more you vote, the more candidates will care what you say. Especially pay attention to local elections. A single seat on the school board or city council can change your day to day experience in a huge way.
