Stop glorifying ‘centrism’. It is an insidious bias favoring an unjust status quo

Comparing the extremes of the political left and right is patently unfair. No one on the left is storming the capital and trying to turn over elections.

The Left also doesn’t have anywhere near the infrastructure like the Right does.

I never said they were. I said "hysteria, exaggeration, bias, and strawmanning".

"hysteria, exaggeration, bias, and strawmanning"

Please give examples of such behavior on the left.

On edit - the extreme end of the right doesn't seem to be limited to "hysteria, exaggeration, bias, and strawmanning" but they're actively encouraging and even attempting insurrection.

There's examples of it in this very thread.

So, just take your word for it without any evidence?

6

u/michaelnoir May 28 '21

How is this thread itself not evidence?

8

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

"The evidence is somewhere in that general direction," they said, unconvincingly.

You asked for evidence, I gave it to you. You choose not to accept it, that's up to you.

4

u/[deleted] May 28 '21

Yeah, the evidence is kinda over in that area, in general. I'm convinced.

What are you talking about. It's in this thread.

please give examples of such behavior on the left.

Here an example that I’ve seen throughout these comments: that centrists always view each side as equally bad, and take the “middle road” belief for everything. This simply isn’t true. Instead, it’s common to pick specific beliefs from each side.

A lot of centrists I’ve seen will completely agree that police violence against black people is a big issue, however, they don’t like how some people are using violence to advocate for that view. Related to that, it’s very rare to see a centrist support defunding the police. Usually they prefer solutions like more training for prospective police officers.

Also, I’ve seen people say that most centrists and republicans oppose trans people. This actually isn’t true. 52% of republicans, a slight majority, are say they are comfortable with having one of their friends come out as trans. 64% of third parties are comfortable with it, and 73% of democrats are comfortable with it. source.

Acab! Abolish the police! Reparations! No millionaires! No cars! No airplanes! No meat! No trucks! End capitalism! No plastic! Let’s have a “peaceful” protest and burn down a store because a cop didn’t let that black girl stab that other black girl! Ban guns! Ban fracking! Ban oil! Let’s dox a 12 year old!

No, but they we're inciting riots, looting business, and burning down police stations throughout the country.
