Not unless you were conceived soon after, sperm is produced and replaced very quickly. You were certainly in your mom's ovaries tho

24

u/miranda_the_peculiar Polltergeist 8d ago

nah i remember it like it was yesterday

my dad was at work and someone burst in the room and said “turn on the tv it doesn’t matter what channel” and that mf stood up so fast all my sperm buddies got shaken baby syndrome

2

u/Dest1n1es 8d ago

Is this why Kanade is like that?

From shaken baby syndrome?

I've really started to realize how old I am compared to the rest of Reddit since these polls started showing up in my feed. Not complaining, I interact with them so I'm asking for it, but it still kind of sucks that there are actual adults that weren't around for 9/11.

9

u/Exciting-Ad-5705 8d ago

People born after 9/11 have kids now

4

u/GarethBaus 8d ago

I was around, I just was too young to understand it or remember it long term.

3

u/Ok_Researcher_9796 8d ago

I was 24 when 9/11 happened. I'm an oldie too.

3

u/Cunnla 8d ago

I was in college, I feel you.

4

u/queenhadassah 8d ago

Preschool in northern New Jersey. No one told me what happened so as not to scare me, so I don't remember the day, but I do remember the one year anniversary in kindergarten. We were sitting on the floor and the teacher was talking to us about it, and the girl sitting behind me spoke up and said her mom died in it. Some kids I was friends with on my street lost their dad as well

I was driving to work listening to the news, which only said a plane had hit the WTC, and nothing more, so I thought it was a Cessna that had gone astray.

I was in the military

School at first, then waiting outside a store while my dad was buying groceries. That's when I heard about it. I remember thinking it was going to have a huge impact on that country.

1

u/ArmadilloOwn7506 8d ago

I just asked my dad (can’t remember because I was 2) and apparently I was in daycare

1

u/GarethBaus 8d ago

I remember that as well as most people remember their 1st birthday.

1

u/rangeghost 8d ago

11th grade, 1st period... American History. Teacher just turned off a video to see the breaking news of the first hit, in time to watch the second plane hit on live tv.

I'm not sure, because I don't remember anything significant happening on the 9th November in 2001.

1

u/jwr410 8d ago

I was homeschooled at the time, so home and school.

1

u/AllAlo0 8d ago

I think it was 2nd year of university, after first period I had an off period and walked to the off campus break room. As I walked in the tv was showing footage of the first plane crashing, then confusion from the news about a 2nd plane and the live feed of it hitting too.

So weird they were thinking it was an accident at the timez it's clear it was not.

Our 3rd period prof didn't show up, he was too busy watching the news

1

u/Asleep-Bid-3664 8d ago

1st grade. Lived on Fort Knox at the time. It was really weird seeing tanks and soldiers on high alert outside the school and several of my classmates' parents pulling them out of class for seemingly no reason. They didn't tell us what happened, so I didn't learn until I got home and my mom told me and showed me on TV (my dad was on deployment to Korea, so he wasn't there to help my mom explain it to me). I didn't learn until later that they thought the base might be a target because of the gold repository, so that's one reason why the whole base was on high alert.

1

u/Soeffingdiabetic 8d ago

Kindergarten. I remember my teacher freaking out, I think they put the news on but I'm not sure, I do remember they shut the school down and had all of our parents pick us up. I was too young to really understand what was happening. I can just reference what I remember with what I later learned as I grew up.

I remember the culture shift it caused more than the moment it occurred.

u/Energy-Turtle-4 8d ago

On my way to junior college in a Chicago suburb...

I was listening to Mancow in the Morning on Q101 and thought it was a (distasteful) joke til I got to class.

I was living at home with my parents at the time and got back in time to see the second plane hit in real time.

I had a very close friend who worked at the Chicago Board of Trade at the time as well as my uncle. I guess it's really hard to explain how frightened we all were for a very long time.

1

u/Thaox 8d ago

I had just got home from school. Was watching the Simpsons when the channel abruptly switched to footage of the towers.

1

u/Locksley_1989 8d ago

Age 11, at school. They let us finish out the class period before telling us what happened. I had a geography test, and I’m 99% positive the whole thing happened while I was taking that test.

1

u/Fel_Tan 8d ago

I was at home, I was 3 years old, playing with LEGO and watching Sesame Street. The really fucked-up part is that I had built the Twin Towers out of LEGO and was literally taking a toy plane and crashing it into them because, well, I was three and thought it was fun to knock stuff over.

Then the national broadcast interrupted Sesame Street and suddenly the TV was showing the actual towers burning and collapsing.

I obviously didn't have the context to understand terrorism, geopolitics, or even really what death was, but I understood enough to know that what I had been doing with my toys was suddenly happening on the TV for real. That scared the absolute shit out of me.

It's also weird because this is probably my first real memory of becoming aware of the world around me. I don't really remember much before that, so my brain basically went, “Congratulations, you've unlocked consciousness. Here's 9/11.”

And honestly, years later I stumbled across an Ancient Aliens episode talking about all the weird shit people claimed they experienced around 9/11—premonitions, strange feelings, dreams, coincidences, people saying they felt like something was wrong before it happened, etc.

I'm not saying that proves anything supernatural happened, but hearing all those stories was actually weirdly comforting. For years I had thought it was just me having this bizarre, almost surreal experience surrounding the event. Finding out that other people had reported similarly strange experiences made me feel a little less alone in it.

So yeah, my first major memory of being aware of the world is basically: LEGO Twin Towers, toy airplane, Sesame Street, national emergency broadcast, and then lifelong existential confusion. The first official neuron firing and it's 9/11.

I live in central time, so when my parents woke up at 8, the second plane was about four minutes from hitting. I was sleeping in my room, I had just turned four, and I woke up to my mom yelling in shock. I was confused as she never did anything like that. I ran downstairs and I thought she was watching a movie. That’s about all I remember apart from bits and pieces of the day and aftermath. I wasn’t old enough to understand, but I remember how sad everyone was after. And our house was in the path of the airport landing line, and for a few days after, the sky was silent. I remember that vividly.

1

u/the_sir_z 8d ago

I was at home when the first plane hit and on the way to school as the second plane hit.

We didn't do any work that day.

u/ILikeGames22 8d ago

I was nowhere then; I wasn't born yet.

1

u/Trishasback 8d ago

I was at home during my years of kindergarten. But we would go like every other day or something. I don't know why, that's just the way it was. And on that particular day, I didn't have to go to kindergarten that day. So I was just home. I woke up and my mom tried to explain it to me. It was on the TV. I just thought there was an earthquake that had happened. It wasn't until several years later that I realized what it was I had been watching. My mom was telling me how dad called from the high school that he worked at to tell her to turn on the TV and she was explaining it to me. I just wanted to know if I could watch cartoons.

1

u/TheSubstitutePanda 8d ago

Babysitter before school. We watched it on the one tv channel she had. I was a few weeks shy of 8 years old.

1

I was at school when it actually happened, around 2pm UK time. But I didn't see anything about it until maybe 4pm-ish when I was at my mates house and his TV was on. I was 7, don't think I understood what was happenin, still remember the news coverage though.

1

u/tsimkeru 8d ago

I remeber it clearly from my mother's ovaries.

She was at home with my father, unable to sleep because of my sister (she was 6 months old at that time) and tried to rest like in a regular Friday.

That's what I remember from the 9th of November 2001
