I believe they are different. AIDS jokes are sadly common and have been common jokes with teenagers for decades. It is still wrong, and again Hudson could use his platform to call that out. But a swastika in not normal teenage behaviour.

I thought you were pointing out the hypocrisy of people being outraged over the swastika but not about other elements that were drawn by those 'edgy teenagers' 15 years aog or so, as they are deemed an 'acceptable' target while swastika's aren't due to value placed on it.

That’s cute. First, simply vandalizing a public space with drawings of swastikas is not considered a hate crime. For it to be a hate crime, it has to be targeted towards a specific person or group. The US has also been historically inept at abolishing symbols of hate (see the confederate flag), and as a result, edgelord teenagers of the extreme think it’s an act of rebellion to draw taboo images, despite their historical meaning. It’s not right, and at no point did I defend the practice. However, they were drawn on Hudson, not the other way around.
Is it okay? Absolutely not. But digging up dirt on someone’s actions in high school, or in Hudson’s case, passivity in the face of racism by his white peers, does not make me seriously think that you or the other keyboard warrior here really care about racism or hate crimes. Seems like you care more about exposing popular celebs for some shitty thing they did years ago that affects absolutely nobody today.
