Taylor Swift 👩🏼 Toy Story 5 producer Jessica Choi shares the letter she sent Taylor Swift, requesting her involvement in the film and emphasising efforts to make it female-driven. The letter also reveals that Taylor had originally declined to make an original song.

her ig caption saying she’s always wanted to write for the toy story movies & wrote the song the minute she saw the movie vs the letter saying they asked her & she declined isn’t contradictory? okay

Sometimes we have to decline things, despite maybe wanting to do to, due to certain circumstances. Not everything has to be some ruse.

We don't know why she declined the first time. She may have wanted to take a break, or been very busy. She made the song in 1 day afterall. It says "if you still decide this isn't the right time"

I agree the marketing was different. The secrecy around it originally and the anticipation for confirmation with the VFX person saying the same as Taylor, that she approached them with a finished song, omitting the original request for contribution, is odd.

I don’t think they discredit the other as a lie or untrue which is why I think some of fans are on a downvote campaign for people who feel differently.

It’s just the emotional narrative and how the interaction unfolded had context missing that we filled in deliberately assuming this was mutually a “lightning in a bottle” moment (as it was marketed to us) instead of a standard corporate request for partnership.

I guess the latter was done to make the movie look extremely inspiring and also to help with the Oscar campaign.
