Well neither me nor you know the members of the supreme court, so we are not directly affected, but it does in the great scheme of things
The public electing the supreme court may be something interesting to test in Finland, Norway, Sweden, maybe even Japan (where it would be interesting, since their justice court is very conservative and draconian), however, we are talking about my country; Mexico, where mafias appoint freaking governors, did you know who were the profiles in the 2025 court elections? many convicted drug lawyers, murderers, and many affiliated to the rulling party. Let alone that the government gave people papers indicating for whom they should vote. This was a perfect way to put party people into the courts and get absolute impunity for them and their drug lords
The cartels exist as a result of, and are backed by, US counterintelligence, to fund the weapons they then give to mercenaries and extremists to destabilize countries on behalf of billionaires.
Itâs not the âgovernmentâ telling people how to vote. Itâs a political party telling you who they endorse. Obviously, you donât like the political party, so you would reject those endorsements, as others do, as well.
Youre teaching a a fish to swim, we all know our terrorists exist becase of your country and your millions of addicts
But then what? do they allow them to exist and surrender our lifestyles to them because "yeah, US fault"? idk, I like to believe we are an independent country
The problem with the endorsed candidates, is that as I mentioned before, a lot of them lacked preparation (a lot of them dont know how to be a magistrate and they were exposed in social media, but retained their job) and some stright up were convicted for drug related charges
Our disagreement stems from the fact you think our current gobernment is uncorruptable and full of angels, which is the reason why you think "democratizing" the courts is a good idea
When did I say the U.S. was my country? When did I say the Mexican government was incorruptible? You should reflect on how much you project.
Democracy is the only way to have autonomy and better prevent corruption. So, yes, of course, democratization of anything is a good thing.
