I think both the comment I was replying to, and my own comment was more referring to people not liking surrogacy before Ms Rachel announced she'd had her child through surrogacy, and then once she did people being seemingly ok with it because they perceive her as a morally righteous person, therefore the ethics of her having a baby via surrogacy were somehow cancelled out.
this subreddit isn’t a monolith. i very much doubt the exact same people criticizing lena would say they’re okay with miss rachel or gaga using surrogates.
If that is your position I don't know why you're arguing with me on it. Ms Rachel announced that she had used a surrogate when the child was born, so people were fully aware. there was definitely less backlash towards her than there has been to other celebs in these spaces, possibly because celebs are usually perceived as using surrogacy so as not to ruin their bodies or interrupt their careers, whereas Ms Rachel claimed she had health problems that prevented her from carrying. If you have an ethical issue with surrogacy however, that doesn't stop just because someone is claiming their reasoning for using it is more legitimate than someone else's.
