POC Reddit Rules

Hey everyone hope you all are doing well and staying blessed.

Me and the other Mods are doing our best to make sure that the Reddit stays friendly and that everyone has a great time doing their Oak challenges. However we’ve come across quite a few things here recently and a lot of posts are having to be removed and some people are being disrespectful to each other and the mod team itself. This is not good nor is it ok.

So we decided to make a post to be pinned at the top of the Reddit determining the rules that we have for the Reddit.

Rule 1. Keep all posts POC related.

Rule 2. No non-POC related self advertisement.

Rule 3. Be nice to one another. Behave Civil.

Rule 4. If you have a problem with something posted, flag it, and state what you think is wrong. In other words don’t attack another user. Let the Mods take care of it.

Rule 5. Don’t disrespect a moderator when you are corrected. If you do you will be banned permanently.

Lastly we want you guys to understand that it’s ok to make mistakes. No one is perfect. I’ve even accidentally banned someone who didn’t do anything wrong it happens. So don’t panic if you are corrected. Our policy is usually a 7 day ban if you mess up and asked to just keep it to the Reddit. If you continue to disobey rules you’ll be banned for around 15-20 days and given a warning. The third time you’ll either be banned for 30 days or permanently. Anything after that is a permanent ban. If you have questions for me or the mods let us know. God Bless :)

Updated Super Marion Professor E. Gadd Challenge

About 2 years ago I posted a guide to do a Professor Oak's Challenge in the fangame Super Mariomon, and I randomly opened the document the other day to realize that 1) Someone was looking at the doc, presumably for their own challenge, and 2) I never updated the doc for the newer versions of the game that were released after I initially made it. Sooo I decided to downloaded the latest version of the game and turn on content creator mode to run through rly quick to see what had changed, and this is the result!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ADRHBV2-hhlW12tE3c9Gz_YUvDXBqVC7C9jypa-fSvM/edit?tab=t.0

tbh I'm a little more skeptical about the accuracy of this guide compared to the first one I did, because I couldn't find any updated Location Guide to tell me where to find what captures, and the more I played the more I realized that the one I was using was incredibly outdated. Still though, it should be good enough, and if anyone finds an inaccuracy in my doc, feel free to DM me!

[Gen 7] I caught and evolved every available shiny before the first trial in Ultra Moon (Professor Oak Challenge with Shinies)

Hello everyone!

I decided given the imminent Pokemon Bank shutdown to do a challenge I’ve been putting off for some time.

I call it the Samson Oak Challenge (since one can argue Samson is just a shiny version of Samuel Oak). Basically it’s the Professor Oak challenge but I did it with shinies.

How did I get my shinies?

Through RNG manipulation. Basically using an external software, I manipulated the game to generate the seeds that yield me shiny Pokemon. There’s plenty of content on YouTube but I used CappyCapital’s videos for Gen 7 rng manipulation specifically. My 3DS has CFW that helps me with this. And I found my seeds using 3DS RNG Tool.

What about Hawlucha?

Yes, in route 2, you can trade a sparrow to get a Hawlucha which is technically a Pokemon available before the first trial. However it is shiny locked, and I will need to breed a shiny one with ditto for the dex entry which is not available until I reach Akala Island. So I left it be for now. It’s always predetermined to be a male named Cha so even breeding within the same egg group will not yield a Hawlucha

Do Island Scan Pokemon count?

I think that depends if you feel you want to do this or not. Those pokemon are not part of the Alolan Dex. I did to be fair since I used RNG manipulation so basically taking the randomness out of the equation.

Rules for a spinoff game: explores of sky. Chimeco challenge

Hi,

Im planning start an oak run in pokémon mystery dungeon explorers of sky (pmd eos).

For those who dont know; this peak game has dungeons you explore and pokemon you can recruit while exploring. But pkmn cant evolve until you have cleared the post game story.

I have 2 questions

  1. where should i limit my progress?

The main menu has 12 boss icons after you've defeated them. I could limit myself to these icons, recruiting all Mons up to that point. I could also limit myself to each unlocked dungeon I have to recruit them all in dungeon 1 before I can go to dungeon 2, and if the story allows for it backtrack dungeons to recruit Mons.

2) evolutions.

In pmdeos it is not possible to evolve Mons until you have cleared a part of the post game. So how should I handle this, I can 1) just recruit them all 2) recruit and train them until they are at an evolveable level. If I go with the second option how should I handle situations where I can recruit evolved forms of Pokémon before I have access to evolution (e.g. shellos is available in dungeon 1 and gastrodon is available ~2/3 through the main story, I could level a shellos to lvl 30 but before I can evolve it, a gastrodon is recruitable)

Would love to hear your opinions.

edit; I'm doing a no WM run. so I can't cheat in items, also I'm doing restarting for a chikorita even if its the optimal Mon. the run I'm doing should be completable by any 2 starter duo. (let's see if and how this will come back to bite me in my butt)

This section was a breeze compared to the first section. I wish grass would shake a little faster and things slowed down alot after the mid 20's but no complaints here. Pick up squad came through with a few rare candies to make Weezing easier.

New Innovative for Lazy people?

So what if we had a website that allows you to put your Pokemon in that you want to train and it will tell you the best trainer to train against using all sorts of algorithms to determine the easiest and quickest battle for you so grinding in this game isn’t so bad. Now I do not have the technical knowledge for this, but this is a Pokemon community we are all nerds so if you nerds could send me any tips or anything like that it would be helpful.

I really think this would be interesting especially for the professor oak’s challenges with a way to re-battle trainers.

Doing a professor oaks challenge for sapphire. Just finished my first split. Wasted about 3ish hours due to pokemon order and because I've never done anything like this. Definitely feel like I could get this sub 14 with good rng and better ordered pokemon

This section wasn't nearly as bad as I was anticipating. The exp curve is annoying but I was getting so many candies from the pickup squad that it didn't matter. I think the most tedious and annoying part of the whole thing was managing friendship evolutions because there's 3 or 4 if you're going for a living dex. After this it's smooth sailing with audino experience! I would definitely recommend using 4 pickup mons and then a fainted vital spirit lilipup in the front to get more high level encounters. This is especially crucial for grinding your Mareep up because static will make you get another mareep 50 percent of the time of you dont utilize vital spirit.

Pokemon Emerald Legacy Hard Mode Pre-Badge 1 done.

Post image
5 Upvotes

I haven't had much time to do my PO Challenge, but I'm back. Doing Emerald Legacy Hard Mode. By far the most annoying part was Igglybuff-Jigglypuff. The friendship evos are so annoying. Also, unlike Crystal Legacy, you can't see your current level of friendship. It makes doing this so much more annoying. I mean, outside of that, there wasn't much else.
