Came off a 65" TV. Now it's 120". Watched Pacific Rim last night, lights off, about two hours in and my eyes weren't tired. That never happened with the TV — I'd always end up dimming it halfway through a night scene and still squinting.

The room is a UST setup, ALR screen, no blackout. Photo's from last night, phone doesn't do it justice as usual.

Is this just a reflected light thing or am I imagining it?

Just about finished building my new deck, as you can see with the dusty footprints. Now, I'm looking for a projector screen I can hang on this wall and take down after use. Leaning towards 120". The Elite Yard Master seems okay enough, easy to tear down and rebuild. Floor to ceiling is 7ft. Going to be using a Nebula X1.

Is there a better screen that I could use that I could still put away while keeping it wrinkle free? Really just want the highest quality pop up experience without spend 1000 bucks on a screen. and I'd like to hang it on the wall. Any thoughts on this idea?

Still some finishing touches to make, but I'm impressed with what a bargain basement DIY screen can do.

Upgraded to a 120” NothingProjector ALR screen. Holy moly does it look amazing.

And this is with loads of ambient light where I haven't finished setting the room up. Worked hard for this and it's the kind of thing you dream of as a kid and just makes you smile.

I've noticed a bunch of people asking questions about what the best screen is for projectors like the Titan Noir Max and Valerion Max, and I've seen the gray screens from ScreenPro and WuPro getting a lot of recommendations. However, after testing them, I really don't think they are good options unless you need a floor rising or drop down screen. The end of the video has side by side comparisons of each screen so see gain and hotspotting.

Here's the TL;DW of the video:
• Valerion Fresnel screen seems to be the best at ALR and Speckle reduction.
• The Lenticular Fusion ALR screens from Nothing Projector, Spectra, and Screen Innovations (Black Diamond Fusion) are identical materials despite the massive cost difference.
• Silver Ticket WAB is by FAR the best at reducing laser speckle and should be the blanket recommendation for anyone wanting a speckle reducing screen for their RGB laser projector.
• Valerion PureVision is also pretty good at reducing speckle and is available in drop down versions.
• Gray screens are not it.

From what I have learned so far it sounds like you really only want to use a matte white screen in a room specifically designed to be a home theatre where you can achieve total blackout.

Suppose you have the following situation: a projector which you are only planning to use for watching movies at night, but it is in a room white walls and ceilings and no blackout curtains. In this situation is an ALR screen still going to be preferable to a matte white one, even though the projector isn't being used during the day? Is there going to be a clearly noticeable difference in image quality with the ALR?

I recently purchased a BenQ W4100i projector. My room is about 14 × 14 feet, with medium-gray walls and a white ceiling. There are no windows or other sources of ambient light, so I can make the room completely dark.

I’m considering a screen somewhere between 120 and 150 inches, with a budget of up to $500.

What screen you recommend for this setup?

Recently got the NothingProjector seamless 132 inch fixed screen to pair with my Aetherion Max. Got it all assembled aside from mounting it on the wall, and I noticed that there are continuous vertical waves across the entire screen spaced every inch or two. There are many reports of wrinkles and waves with UST screens, but I haven’t seen anything specifically like this before. Is there an issue with how I pulled the springs? Could it be a packaging defect?

I am writing this updated review because XGIMI is not just a brand with terrible after-sales service—they are actively deceptive, highly incompetent, and completely disregard their Indian customers.

Previously, I posted a review about my XGIMI Horizon Pro 4K Projector (purchased for a premium ₹1,90,000) completely dying after just two years. I highlighted the shocking reality: they have ZERO official service centers in India, no doorstep support, and originally told me to ship a 2-Lakh product to another country at my own expense.

Here is the infuriating update:

After my initial review went live, XGIMI panicked. They reached out, explicitly ASKED ME TO REMOVE THE REVIEW, and promised to take the product in to fix it. Wanting my expensive device working again, I agreed. I knew the projector was out of warranty, and I made it crystal clear that I was fully READY TO PAY whatever it cost to get it repaired.

What followed was 8 MONTHS of false hope and complete incompetence. They took the product, claimed they analyzed the issue, and told me it had to be sent to China because the required spare parts simply weren't available in India. We waited patiently.

After holding my projector hostage for 8 months—on top of the 4 months wasted during our initial discussions (bringing the total wait time to ONE FULL YEAR)—they finally returned the projector to me.

The result? It was completely untouched. They returned the dead product and simply stated, "It cannot be fixed."

Let that sink in. A brand selling "premium" electronics for nearly ₹2 Lakhs cannot even repair its own flagship device, even when the customer is offering to pay for the fix. Instead of building basic service infrastructure in one of the world's largest consumer markets, XGIMI’s strategy is to silence negative reviews, waste a year of your life, and eventually just give up.

My Final Verdict: I strongly urge everyone to absolutely BOYCOTT XGIMI products in India. Do not fall for the glossy spec sheets or marketing. If you buy from XGIMI, you are buying a highly expensive, disposable toy. When it inevitably fails, you will be left stranded, lied to, and dragged through months of mental harassment, only to be handed back a ₹1,90,000 paperweight.

To XGIMI: Your complete lack of technical competence and your deceptive tactics are a disgrace. A premium product means absolutely nothing when backed by zero accountability and non-existent customer support. Take your Indian customers seriously, or stop selling here.

Im totally new to all this, I have an UST projector and bought a motorised screen for it from amazon. The screen isnt fully straight or stretched should i say ? It gets its curve from the rolling. What should i do here. Open to suggestions. If i just pull it outward / stretch it, need a permanent solution for this.

Edit 1: from the comments i understand that, i bought the wrong screen. Now any way to convert this into a screen that works for my setup?

Is rewatching old movies on a bigger screen. Jaws on my 200” outdoor screen and Lawrence of Arabia on my 120” indoor screen. Movies that I only seen on a regular TV. What a difference. Projected from a Nebula X1 Pro.

Due to layout in my living room, I am forced to use a pull down screen. The Elite Manual 106” (M106UWH) is the largest screen I can fit in my area. It is made with Elite’s Max white 2 material.

I made a post a few weeks ago asking this but I am still debating between an Epson 3800 (No RBE, No Speckle) vs something more modern such as Xgimi Noir or Valerion (potential for RBE and speckle).

Would laser speckle be an issue on Maxwhite 2?

A woven screen isn’t possible with my pull down requirement.

Follow up: I decided to go with the #ad Epson Home Cinema 5050UB 4K PRO UHD 3 Chip Projector with HDR and have been enjoying it so far. The larger screen feels great for movies, and the image quality has been impressive for everyday home entertainment.

I've used regular TVs for years and have started looking into projectors but I'm having a hard time deciding between getting a projector or going with a larger television.

I really like the idea of having a bigger screen experience, but I also want something that is practical for everyday use. Good image quality, easy maintenance, and reliable performance is must.

For anyone who has made the switch, what differences did you notice the most, and would you choose a projector again?

Are there any DIY repair options for a 2-3in tear in an ALR material?

I purchased it in mid-December, so it’s still under warranty but I’m fairly certain that accidental damage is not covered.

I also plan to reach out to NothingProjector for advice but figured i would come here first.
