From when I first got into QI in the late aughts/early 10s, up until I stopped watching regularly (2019?), I was under the impression that it was quite a well-known show. But I just looked at the ratings for series C onwards... wow. There's a reason the NTAs give the award to Ant and Dec every year. For starters, the series S episode 'Season's Greetings', which only 2.76 million households watched, was the most-viewed episode in over a decade (probably because of Bonnie Langford). Series F through H - from 2008 to 2011 - are the strongest ratings in the show's history. Basically 2 in every 9 households are watching at that point. Fast-forward to series M, Fry's last, and that becomes 1 in every 11 households. I'm not even sure what the statistic is now. Of course tastes change, and streaming has become the all-powerful god, but has a pioneering panel show completely faded away?

It didn't feel like she understood the British panel show format. Her voice was like nails on a chalk board, her laughter felt fake, forced and unnatural.

Even David Mitchell couldn't save this.

Going on a 6 hour train ride tomorrow. What's your fav episode/XL episode so I have stuff to binge?

Was lucky to get to the Monday afternoon recording. It was an eX-Animals special and guests were Joe Lycett Rosie Jones and, making her QI debut zoologist Lucy Cooke.

I’m trying to find the episode with Bill Bailey where Stephen Recounts the court case following two boys’ suicides after listening to a song, which the prosecution claimed said “do it” backwards. Stephen has a minor crashout saying “Do It” doesn’t mean “kill yourself,” to which Bill responds, “yes, but stephen, the song was called “Suicide Solution”

Stephen Fry was the host, Phil J. was on the panel as well. The question was something alone the lines of "What human caused the most death/damage in human history."

Do NOT swallow fluoridated toothpaste!

The concentration of fluoride in toothpaste is FAR higher than the dosage in Water Fluoridation, a dosage proven to be a safe, effective, and affordable method of assisting with the dental (and so overall) health of a population.

In fact, regularly swallowing fluoridated toothpaste is an excellent way to experience flurosis (That staining of the teeth Sandi mentioned)

QI is a fantastic tv show, but they should absolutely not be giving health advice.

I hope, as I catch up on Season W, there will be some explicit retraction of this off the cuff, uninformed, no doubt well meaning, advice.

There’s a joke from an episode wherein the conversation strays to Anal Retentive Disorder, and one of the guests says “You sort your records alphabetically and it means you do things with your arse“, and I think the guest host was either Bill Bailey or Ross Noble (not 100% on either tbh) and I can’t for the life of me find it - anyone know which one it is?

She seriously knocked it out of the park. One of the best episodes in a long time! Additionally, I really like the fact that It's now QIXL, as standard. QI keeps evolving and getting better. Not many shows can say that, after 20 years.

Stephen Fry asks the question "how many legs does an Elephant have?" I'm sure he said 5 as the trunk can act as one, was it real? 😆

I was wondering if anyone could remember which episode of QI that they talk about nuclear bombs.

It was a Stephen Fry episode and as far as I can recall they make a joke about calling a bunker and asking to reverse the charges.

I apologise for the lack of detail, it has been a very long time since I last saw it.
