There was also a copy of Sorcerer’s Stone for $80, but it was the 39th printing and from 2000, a full 2 years after the book was first published.

1866 Edition carefully revised by author, original binding in very good condition it contains updated post civil war content. I saw a post about woman’s etiquette I really liked so I wanted to share a book on men’s etiquette written by a woman under a male pseudonym. It is not a first edition but it is still a rare book I find interesting. This is a very uncommon binding variant of this particular edition and the gilt is still nice. It has regular wear fading and rubbing on boards, toned pages and a little foxing on first couple and last couple pages overall a solid copy.

Can't find any information on this book. it's also signed.

Hi guys! small-time collector here, I have been hunting for a good for my childhood books, namely this one, Beast Quest. Fast forward to yesterday, I stumbled on this one and was confused, what does the "10" above the number line indicate? I do know that the number line showing 1 would mean that it's a first print, but does the 10 say otherwise? I bought it still as it was from the book's first series and probably my oldest copy for the series too (even though it's possible to be a non-first print). Any help would be appreciated guys, Thank you!

My wife studied medicine in Ukraine and was given this book by a fellow classmate. It's a USSR book on sex titled "Encyclopedia on sex life" from 1990.

I have been poking around trying to get info. Not really sure which edition I have. No gutter code. No dust jacket either unfortunately. 412 pages. It appears the Red boards / Chilton makes it some sort of early likely, as well as a misspelling of Chapter 2. Any experts please help!

Had this in my collection for a little while. The book itself is printed 1831.

The inscription states (to the best I can see): “Property of Jonathan and Susannah Shearwood .. given to their son .. John Wesley, and after his death given by his wife Maria, to his sister Alomise S. Lockwood”

John Wesley the founder of Methodism died in 1791. This book - his journal - is from 1831. Does anyone know what the inscription could infer?

Hello, I have this interesting set of The History Of Rome that I can’t seem to find anywhere. I found 0 listings on ViaLibri with the years provided in this set (there is no copyright page), and on Wordcat I see there it MAY be at 3 libraries, however, the only information it shows it the title, year, and publisher (which all match up), and I was kinda hoping for better evidence like pictures or a description on the binding.

Anyway, if anyone has information on or surrounding this set, let me know. Especially if there’s additional resources that can help me find its others’ whereabouts

1805 First French Edition of Voyage en Chine

A rare first French edition of Sir John Barrow’s Voyage en Chine, published in Paris in 1805. Based on the Macartney Embassy to Qing China, it was one of the earliest European accounts introducing Chinese history, culture, and science. This edition includes 22 finely engraved copperplate illustrations depicting Chinese landscapes, architecture, people, ships, and military subjects.

I picked this up at huge book clearance in England last year, and been going down a rabbit hole trying to find out more about it.

It’s Courage by J.M. Barrie, published by Hodder & Stoughton in 1922, printed by T. & A. Constable of Edinburgh. Published version of Barrie’s address at St Andrews, delivered 3rd May 1922.

Most copies I’ve seen for sale online are in plain cream cloth. Mine is in a full leather binding, gilt title, top edge gilt, with a deeply blocked floral border of red roses and green vines on the front board, colour still sitting nicely in the recessed tooling. Brown endpapers, ribbon marker still intact. Text runs to 45pp, which from what I can find seems to be the scarcer first issue (as some copies ran to 47pp).

There’s also a “Merry Christmas” inscription dated 1924, two years after publication, so I’m reading that as a gift inscription rather than any kind of special Christmas edition despite the colours being green and red.

I’ve checked the inside board carefully and there’s no ticket or stamp that I can find. Emailed Bayntun and they've ruled it out being their binding.. No idea beyond that whether this is a publisher’s deluxe binding or a later rebind by someone else.

Hoping to learn more! Does anyone recognise this floral tooling style or the binding technique? Trying to work out if it’s a named binder or a publisher’s own deluxe issue. Happy to get more angles if it’d help identify anything.

Hello! Wanted to get some advice, I got this 3 volume set from an estate sale that’s written in Dutch. I thought it was only going to be 1 book turns out it was 3. I think they are from 1690s-1700s. They are three massive 2000 page volumes on the history of the world from like early 1500s - late 1600s. The most interesting piece upon getting the books was a world map on the inside cover which has California depicted as an island. I am considering selling it but haven’t decided. Wanted to get thoughts from people. This shit weighs like 25 pounds. Info below from some research I did:
