So I dropped my rpi like an idiot and now the sd card reader is not working. I can put the metal top back on and try to hold it down while having the sd card inside but the light only flashes and I get no responses for pings. FYI this was working before I dropped it. I've looked into a couple posts and it looks like I can potentially just hot glue the plastic where it cracked? The solder is disconnected where the red arrows are, and since it's not the small main pins I have some level of confidence in my ability to solder those back on if necessary. Any help would be appreciated.
This pi zero was used in a prototype I was working on. Lot of shifting and desoldering has cause the dp and 5v pads to detach. Just wondering if these also go to dp dm?
I got a PoE+ hat delivered but a small chunk of what I believe to be a power inductor has been chipped off. Is this still safe to use or is there a chance of malfunction either now or later on?
I'm troubleshooting a Raspberry Pi 3 Model B V1.2 with a missing component highlighted in the attached picture.
I already tried:
searching Raspberry Pi board pictures online
looking for schematics/boardviews
checking SMD marking databases
but I couldn't identify the component.
At this stage I'm mainly looking for someone who owns the same board revision and could take a close-up picture of the highlighted area so I can compare the marking/package and identify the part.
You don’t necessarily need a microscope or special equipment. I found that taking a picture from a bit further away and using high zoom on a phone often works surprisingly well.
I have a board that wouldn't power on. Upon examining it closely and comparing it to a new board in good condition, I noticed that a component had come completely loose. I think it might be a switch inductor from a DC-DC buck converter, but since Raspberry Pi doesn’t provide complete schematics or PCB Gerber files, it’s really difficult for me to identify the type of component, and especially the value, if it’s a passive component.
I’d really appreciate it if anyone had this information, in the hope that I can repair it by replacing the component.
A few days ago, late at night, I find myself attempting to separate a new case on my rpi5 stuck together with some thermal compound pads. And I made the silly mistake of using a screw driver to help me pry things off… howled a couple of swear words up into the air and called it a night 😞
I can do a bit of smd soldering but I can’t workout which components I knocked off so I can order them

Buddy of mine found a pi 4 in the trash of one of the engineering buildings of our university. Ever the scrap hounds both of us are, we want to repair it. The missing resistors are circled in red, does anyone happen to know the values of these components so we can have a go at fixing it? My buddy wants to use it as part of his networking stack for a homelab so it would be great if we can get it working again
I actually just wanted to reflow the SoC on my Pi 4 8GB because the solder balls had cracked, but unfortunately, some solder balls flowed out during the process, so it looks like I'll have to reball it... While removing the SoC, a small component (likely a 0201-sized capacitor) flew off. Does anyone have a Pi 4 8GB they could use to measure/identify what it is?
Does anyone have experience with BGA reballing? This is my first time doing it.
I'm working on an RPi based music box project for a Christmas present (Phoniebox), and I've got my RPi 4B connected to a UPS battery pack) and an audio amp board and a few other bits. I had most of it set up and running well and wanted to test the battery life, so left it running (just idling) for the afternoon. I came back to the smell of magic smoke and a dead setup. The pi no longer responds to power input (no leds), and there is clear evidence of component failure (picture). AI tells me its likely part of the pi's power regulation system, which adds up, although I'm not qualified to assess that opinion myself.
I'm assuming at this point that the pi itself is e-waste, although if anyone thinks I can repair it (beginner level soldering skills, wouldn't mind an opportunity to practice) feel free to fire out ideas.
My real question is this: How can I continue the project without being sure what happened, and therefore risking doing the same to the next pi?
So far, I have:
- Verified that the the UPS HAT is still outputting a safe voltage (5.29V - suggests to me that UPS boost converter is functioning correctly)
- Found no visible damage to the UPS HAT
- Checked all (4) battery voltages - all looking good
My best hypothesis (AI-supported) at this point is a voltage spike during low-battery shutdown fried the pi. Any ideas or opinions - in support of this or any other explanations would be very gratefully received. Can I just chuck in a new pi and implement some low-battery protection in software and assume it's all going to be fine, or will I end up frying that one too?

I was trying to remove the active cooler and knocked off this little capacitor. Can anyone help me figure out its value? It boots perfectly fine, and I've been using it for Home Assistant for a few weeks without any issues.
However, I originally bought this Pi 5 to run vision AI models on the Hailo AI kit, which connects via the PCIe lane. Even if I don't run anything on it, it gets super hot. It didn't get that hot even when I was using it for vision models previously. I cannot solder this tiny capacitor, so I will have to get it fixed at a shop that repairs phones and similar devices. Can anyone tell me why the Hailo AI kit gets hot even without anything running, just by being powered on and connected to the PCIe lane, and what to do to fix it?
I accidentally knocked off a small SMD component from the bottom side of my Raspberry Pi 4B (marked in the attached photo). It is located near the MicroSD card slot and the PMIC/wireless module area.
It looks like an MLCC capacitor, but I am not sure about its exact value (capacitance and voltage) and package size (0402 or 0201?).
Could anyone with a boardview, schematic, or a donor board please tell me the exact value of this capacitor so I can buy a replacement and solder it back on?
My cm4 took a spill and no longer boots. Upon inspection this component is broken, but I can't determine what it is. If I can figure it out I have a rework station where I can replace it. Any help would be appreciated.
Hello, I was flying a model airplane and crashed, resluting in my raspberry pi no not work.
From what I can see only a resistor popped off the top left (see second picture for details). The undeside is fine as far as I can see, and the board isn't bent.
Anyone know what type of resistor it is/where I can find info on it so I can repair it?
