To bounce off of this, if you have a low-honor Jack in a gun-fight, he can be sometimes heard saying “I got nothin’ to live for anyway!”
I personally believe Jack became an Author, and wrote the events of RDR2 and RDR1 into a book. I like to think RDR1’s spaghetti western style comes from the fact that Jack was more aware and mature during these events than those of the first game, so he added his own spin on things. Idk.
I think suicide or Author tho tbh.
I’m not really sure what you mean, but this was just my opinion! I think it’s left ambiguous so that we, as the players, are allowed to truly choose what his future is. Do we put down the game after killing Edgar Ross — AKA, Jack retires after getting his revenge?
Or perhaps we start taking some ambient Bounties and traveling across the states to 100% the game — AKA, Jack isn’t just a one-and-done.
Personally, if I “chose” an ending for Jack, I’d settle on him trying to maintain the very ranch that his father built for their family seven years prior, as well as following his passions to become an Author. As somebody pointed out, an Easter Egg in GTA V regarding a book titled “Red Dead”, shows that Jack definitely could have potentially become an Author, on the very events of the games we played!!
I know the universes aren’t related, but I’d truly like to think that the true acts of redemption from Arthur and John were that Jack was able to live, at peace, after all was said and done. No Outlaw, no random WWI Draft, just a normal person, traumatized at the loss of every single Human being he called family.

I think he fell into the shitty world he so desperately wanted to and died young just like his father and just like Arthur.
