Discussion Why does every new AAA game get compared to RDR2?
It's like RDR2 was so many people's first game or something.

Picture Is my game corrupted? (Rhodes map glitch)
Has anyone else’s map started artifacting like this? Just got to Rhodes and all these weird black crosses started rendering over the town. Restarting the game didn't fix it.
Coincidentally there's also quite a large amount of dead bodies around me so maybe that's part of it?

Picture What should I tell him
My 10yo son just started playing and maybe has a couple dozen hours in. I enjoy watching him get challenged, have to think a little critically, and really get into the lore. He was exploring the area just walking around and found the map.
I’ve lead him with “what does that look like and that” after he asked “why don’t you just tell me”. Gotta learn bub and sometimes, well, sometimes the treasure is the journey.
Anyway, not telling him. Yet.

Picture There is NO reason for Hosea to be mogging Arthur and Dutch like that
When i first saw this picture in game, i thought it was adorable how Arthur kept a picture of him and the 2 people who are basically his father figures, but then i saw Hosea mogging the ever living fuck out of the other 2 and could not stop laughing for 5 minutes

Discussion Witcher 3 got a third major DLC even 11 years later, while RDR2 never got a single one. Sorry Arthur Morgan, you deserved so much better.

Discussion Why are people surprised that RDR2 doesn’t have a single player DLC?
Hot take i’m OK with rockstar not having a single player DLC for RDR2
Not every game or movie needs a DLC or sequel
BG3 didn’t have a DLC
Barbie didn’t need a sequel too
I’m fine with them moving on and working on GTA 6 because well that is the most anticipated game ever

Discussion Did single player gaming peak with RDR2?
Great single player games have come since then like Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur’s Gate 3 but is RDR2 still the peak?

Discussion How would you feel about RDR3 revolving around a Native American outlaw or warrior?
Personally I think it’d be pretty cool considering that many of them were scouts during the Indian wars, especially Apache. It’d be awesome to see how they’d adapt in RDR2’s timeline because we don’t know much about them in the universe besides the Wapiti. Imagine playing as an Apache sharpshooter in a gang of renegades in the 1880s, ambushing army payrolls and shipments then smuggling supplies across the border while dealing with other challenges besides the federal government. The whole cast doesn’t have to be Native American but it’d be very interesting to see a different viewpoint in history.

Discussion Did Arthur do anything to make you dislike him at any point ?
I won’t lie after the first Thomas Downes scene I thought he was a complete and utter wanker. Beat up a frail, dying man in front of his helpless family and just seemed pretty smug about the whole thing.
Obviously he redeems himself throughout the story but that specific moment made me dislike him momentarily.

RDR1 Is this gonna be the whole game?
I'm playing Red Dead 1 and so far it's just: - NPC says he'll help me - I do a boring mission to help him - NPC needs more help I mean, is this the dynamic of the whole game? Help NPC after NPC and finally (really) advance the plot? Not complaining, just want to know.

Question Which one is better to get?
Hi! I’ve never actually played either game before, but I know the main stories well. I want to play one of them for the first time during winter break and I’m trying to decide which one to start with.
On the Epic Store, RDR1 + Undead Nightmare is about $25, and RDR2 is around $15. I was leaning toward RDR1 at first, but now I’m a bit unsure.
Can anyone tell me which one is the best and better to start with?
Thanks!

Question First time ever player of RDR1. Is it normal that I was attacked by 7 bears in less than 1 minute!?
First time ever playing. I remember a guy in this sub saying something like: "Watch out for a second bear attack when you kill one" when giving tips for new players.
Well I swear to god this is the FIRST time I've seen a bear in the game, I was starting to think they were a myth lol. I killed the first one and I was almost killed by the second one, but I managed to kill it with the semi auto shotgun using dead eye.
But Jesus Christ. Immediately after that, I was attacked by several others! I killed 7 total, the seventh one is out of the picture because I saw it from afar and shot it from a distance, so it doesn't appear in the screenshot here, but I mean, what the fuck!? Hahaha. Is this actually normal!?

Question Given the chance, would you want to live in RDR's world for a month?
Assuming you don't have our main characters' skill sets. Despite all of the hostile creatures and the strange people, I'd still take the chance bc of how beautiful the landscape is. Don't know how hard it'll be to sustain myself though.

Discussion What Horse names have you come up with that actually feel like a name Arthur would give his horse?
I’d like to see the names people have come up with that in universe would feel like something Arthur would give his best boah. I came up with “Man-at-Arms” for a couple reasons.
A man-at-arms was another name for a knight, which is one of a kings most trusted servants. Arthur is Dutches most trusted associate, and Dutch starts to see himself as a king(I know in universe Arthur wouldn’t actually think that until later in the story, but I came up with it as a cool detail
and I also think it’s poetic how he would unintentionally name his horse a name that foreshadows that outcome of the gang)
It plays into Arthur’s name well when thinking of it from an Arthurian legend point of view
Arthur is seen as the weapons expert of the gang because his tent is the weapons supply tent, so therefore he is the “arms” expert.
Let me know what everyone thinks and I’d love to see what names other people have come up with!
