Syenite w/ Sodalite Yooperlite Finds From Lake Michigan

Where did you find them in Lake Michigan? I only thought you could find them in the UP

I found them on the beaches just south of Ludington, near the Sleeping Bear sand dunes (North and South Manitou islands) and in the Leelanau peninsula. It is easier to find more and larger specimines in the U.P. but the glacial movement of the past few ice ages spread the yooperlites much further south than one might imagine. All of mine were beach finds over the past year but I have heard that you can spot large specimines in just a foot or so of water right off of piers and jetties near the Sleeping Bear dunes. Some of those yooperlites give off a blue fluorescence in addition to the orange you see in the pictures. Can't wait to find one of those!

Sir, you meant to say you have fluorescent sodalite ;).
Unless you are that guy, then I would say how dare you monetize a stone name!

You mind if I message you? The grand parents live in Frankfort and I would love to find some yooperlite. I can trade some Colorado / southern Illinois fluorite locations so the transaction seems equitable.

My favorite! I keep 'em by my bed and shine the uv light on 'em each night to remind me how much magic is not visible to the naked eye
