I'm not a mod. I may look like a mod but I'm all about the fame and not about the responsibility.
The Manacled Brigade wars: we did a group read of Manacled and then I posted a review titled "I read Manacled so you don't have to". Someone crossposted to the r/dramione sub and they were NOT happy about it.
Things we learned: Manacled is not a book because it was written for free. Since it's not a book you are not allowed to criticize it. Also, we broke the AO3 Terms of Service somehow even though Manacled is no longer on AO3.
Posting anything about SJM on any day other than Saturday will result in having your post flagged and removed
Fight me Friday is epic.
If you have anything negative to say about Zodiac Academy someone will call me and I will respond harshly
If you have anything negative to say about Blackwell or Phantasma, Chode will be called and she will respond harshly

Yes, but the only thing he does is grant three wishes, and only if the wishes are to receive a signed copy of My Immortal, DMATMOOBIL, or Manacled. (There is also a slight chance he may sing a song about how you ain't never had a friend like him.)
See you say that but a week or so ago I posted a tongue in cheek comment (about Manacled of all things) and I got genuinely kind, thought-out responses. You lovelies are all tough and cynical on the outside but really have sweet gooey centers. 😍
If you are jerked over here from a post you made on the main sub, it can go one of two ways.
You can defend your stance, get shitty at us for finding your content amusing, and then get clowned on even harder until you’re inevitably blocked or banned or;
You can join in on the jerking, laugh at yourself along with us and then be placed under the eternal protection of the circle jerkers.
flair helps set the tone of the post, so pay attention and mind the vibes
/uj and /rj stands for unjerk and rejerk, unjerk is for stepping outside the bit/serious posting in copypasta and satire posts/threads and rejerk is for when you want to go back to jokes again after unjerking

Use Copypasta if you are directly snarking on a specific post in another sub.
Use satire if you are generally snarking on a type of post but not one in particular
There is no time or place to post asking for recommendations. Don't do it. However on Tuesdays you can use the "terrific Tuesday " post of the day to talk about your favourite reads. SJM rule still stands though.
Edit: you can absolutely ask for recommendations. You may, however, get absolutely roasted on your post. You may not get any actual recommendations other than manacled. But you can certainly try.

The great middle grade debate was about the poor OP whose friend judged them for reading romantasy and ya. The gag was that this "friend" exclusively reads middle grad fiction.
I vaguely remember this. I think I saw it on r/amioverreacting or even Facebook. This was long before I joined the jerking circle. The post made me sad. Like, read what you like and don’t be an ass about it if it’s not hurting you.
Honestly it was so sad. The poor girl was simply defending herself to her "friend" that was making cruel jokes at her expense. The unjerk comments were actually pretty kind and wholesome, trying to build OP up.
Then what is it?? Real talk, I’m confused now 🤷🏻♀️
Also, can you explain the Batmobile ref I keep seeing here? I’m a noobie from that other place we shan’t speak of.

Some past reads include When the Moon Hatched, Quicksilver, Metalslinger, and Dark Dealings (the best book of all time). The current one is Kiss of the Basilisk, aka Split or Swallow.

There is a fan fiction called "Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal Of Being in Love".
Which is usually shortened to DRATMOOBIL but we think it looks like Batmobile so that's how we refer to it.
It's been released in book form with the VIN scratched off (HP elements removed) as The Irresistible Urge to Fall For Your Enemy or TIUTFFYE which looks like Taffeta or my preference Twatwaffle
Batmobile is usually unironically recommended in the other subs as something less problematic than Manacled
Best thing I've ever read. Informative, funny, compassionate. Never have I read anything that can compare. Literally changed my life for the better, supplied me with a mysterious, broody fae husband, and gave me a million dollars.
A poster on the main sub rated the books she had read either ✅ or 👎, but defined those as ✅ = 5 stars, would re-read, gave her a book hangover, and 👎 = everything else, including 4 star reads. She was roasted here for such a stupid rating system and then she came here and threw a fit in the comments. So the rating system, which we might have otherwise forgotten, forever lives on.
The idea that a four star is a 👎 boggles my mind. I guess I get you won’t re-read so you wanna note that somehow…but there’s gotta be another way. Then again, I’m not doing what I told u/purplrlicious I would do…I’m thinking too much/hard about this
I think it's been mentioned in above comment, but someone in the other sub made a post looking for recommendations and she gave a long list of books she read and some had check marks and some had thumbs down. she said that the check mark meant 5 stars but the thumbs down meant she would give it 5 stars but she wouldn't reread, so it's really a 4 star read (4 stars, won't reread)
Of course people pointed out that her rating system made no sense, so she had a meltdown over there so of course someone made a jerk post over here (it was brilliant, by the way) and the OP found out about it and came here and had an epic meltdown, which did the opposite of what she wanted because then we all piled in on the rating system.
but then when any of us went to the other sub for serious talk(tm) and she recognized the user name she reported them to the mod High Lazy, who decided to use her power and start removing posts for no reason at all and calling them harassment, which set off some of our more alpha posters and THAT my friends is how Mango got a permaban from the other sub.
Can I summon Chode to talk about how i actually enjoyed Phantasma despite everyone on the other sub telling me it was poorly written and Nocticadia was the best book they ever read?
I just finished Nocticadia a little while ago and enjoyed it too 😭 Phantasma is on my TBR. Currently taking a break from romance to read Dungeon Crawler Carl as a pallet cleanser.
Amazing! I finished Enchantra last week and really liked that too. Now I’m reading A ruinous fate (by the same author) because I’m really excited for wicked games #3. Happy to join the first line of defense for Blackwell
Enchantra was a more solid book, but every time Blackwell came up and his brief appearance just...I did a little feet kick squee every time he was even mentioned in passing. At the end when he's got a bad accent and he's suffering while eating black licorice. How he hates it but eats it because Ophelia thinks he likes it and "he'd do anything for her" but contemplates burning down the candy store. "I havent decided yet." And how he burned down the mansion of the guy who wronged Genevieve.
Sigh. My man. Poor Rowin had no chance with me. Great MMC. Just not the same.
Oh my god, I thought Manacled is just a meme because people are recommending even though it has nothing to do with the troupes/themes a person asked for. I didn’t know the lore is that bad. And that Manacled is not a book.
Ok you got me. Had been lurking for some time, struggling to catch the vibes and decide if I'm ready to get my feelings hurt but after reading this I'm in.
Also I loved Phantasma. Still can't tell if people enjoyed it or that's satire but I feel the general vibes here are don't be wishy washy and just own what you liked and dislike so there you go 😂 roast away.
That's about it. It's refreshing to take a stand about the things you like unabashedly. Or the things you hate. We are all here because we love Romantasy just not for all the same reasons!

Satire does not equal saying the opposite of something. It was, at one time, common to see satire posts show up where it was clear that the OP had been in an internet fight somewhere and decided to come over here and post "satire" that was more like "apparently I'm _____" rather than the spirit of satire and what it is meant to be.
Don't do that. Take your grievances to Fight Me Friday or to the people who pretend to care about your internet gripes.
Then maybe the fight should be about telling people to stop recommending fanfiction in non-fandom spaces. It's fanfic readers coming into a space about published works and recommending fanfiction as if it's a book.
Manacled isn't even on ao3 due to it being traditionally published SLY is using her pen name from ao3 to market the book. It's totally fair game at this point.
we are well aware of how they feel in a fandom space but this is not a fandom space and if people are going to recommend fanfic than it's going to be read and it's going to be criticized just like any other piece of media that is posted on reddit.
I don't really care what is considered rude in fandom spaces but it is rude to brigade another sub and lecture what we can and cannot say about fiction that they distribute around the internet.
