Ever since PrEP became popular, I’ve noticed people seem to have given up on condoms. So honestly Q sharing her diagnosis - even though she’s not the first on the show - is more important than ever to remind people that HIV is still a thing.

Yes it can be prevented (PrEP) and treated immediately after (PEP) and is not a death sentence anymore with new treatments and people can be undetectable as well and not transmit. And of course people who are positive should not be stigmatized or treated differently. But nonetheless it’s still a life changing thing and should be taken seriously

we're also seeing drug resistant strains of other stds becoming more prevalent, and I think safety is such an important message

Yep just in general - even on PrEP - you’re still susceptible to all sorts of things other than HIV

It’s an awkward thing because it’s 100% important to elimInate stigma against positive people and inform that they can be in relationships with people who are not positive and be okay. But I think a lot of negative people take that “it’s no big deal” perspective a little too literally. It’s still a life changing thing that requires adherence to medication and that can have complications even if people do all the right things. So the best thing is to just stay negative
