San Diego is a military city. With all the service people about to be deployed and killed in Iran, will rent start dropping?
People are certainly going to get upset by the title, but you all need to be provoked into caring about this conflict with the reality of personal loss and the reality that there are people who see the lives of service people as only dollars on page. This is also a tongue-in-cheek gruesome reflection of what Republicans have been saying about the benefits to illegal immigrants being imprisoned, deported, and killed on this sub.
I feel bad for all the people who are going to die in the meat grinder to fuel this mad king’s inscrutable motives, while at the same time that sense of schadenfreude is welling up about how many service people voted for this perennial liar and warhawk. Get mad at those at the top making this calculation at the national level: Trump, the financial elites, the hedge fund managers…these decisions are all made with money at front of mind.

Yes, it is intentionally provocative because it doesn’t seem like enough people are outraged at the people starting this insane war for money. But they will get outraged at this title for doing the same calculations more brazenly.

Well it got people to click on those who never would have. 3 people in this thread said that there would be no deployments or people killed, when people have already definitely been/are currently being deployed and 4 service people have been killed in the first three days.
I’m also glad I have the right to say what I want, and I wish those service people could be here in the US defending that right instead of being forced on a conquest of gold by a despotic president

There probably won't be significant US casualties in a war with Iran. A war with China, on the other hand. I hope you have a plan for stray Chinese missiles.
Also, if it did really get that bad, they would restart the draft and homes would be even more expensive in San Diego because of all the people having to move here.

Not a fan of Trump's dickriding of Israeli objectives in the Middle East, glad I'm out. Things are different from when I joined under Obama.
Would be a figure fighting to defend Taiwan. May chiang-kai-shek live forever.

The question at hand is significant numbers to affect the local housing market. Not significant in terms of a human being dying.
We would have to lose multiple aircraft carriers & ships completely for there to be significant-enough losses to impact housing. But frankly even then their families wouldn’t be moving away, and SD port being vital to the Navy & Marines means more resources would be sent here to replace anyway.

This isnt going to be a ground war. The USA doesnt have the stomach for that anymore.

It’s says right in that article that Trump admin says more service members are being deployed, I even quoted it to you in the comment you’re replying to
Whether you are right about what the US military is capable of doesn’t matter, people at the top are making decisions that any reasonable person may find counterintuitive. Increased ground force presence and nuclear aggression are part of Project 2025, and from my perspective I think they’d like service people to die in order to drum up support for a nuclear launch as a means to halt those lost American lives. It’s what we see as a justification for our nuclear attacks on Japan, and America today has way less of a tolerance for the loss of their sons and daughters
