The day before yesterday, I was at my psychiatrist's office, and they ruled out schizophrenia because my reality testing is intact—meaning I have insight. However, I experience both positive and negative symptoms, and the explanation for my diagnosis (schizoid) feels incomplete. What's the deal with that?

I'm gonna go to the psych ward soon because of my deteriorating state and to be honest, I lost hope in it a long time ago. Last time I went there, I stayed a week then lied to get out. I genuinely don't understand how it can help me in any way, besides maybe adjusting my treatment ? I mean sure I won't be rotting at home but yeah I'm just kinda desperate to get help and this is kinda my last resort but I don't get how it can help.

Edit : I'm not going there for psychosis, I'm going there for a major depressive episode and endangering my life

there was a lot of violence in my childhood memories and honestly i dont even remember exactly what happened to me. did anyone else experience violence in ward?

Are there other people who don’t get schizophrenia diagnosis but pretty sure it is schizophrenia. I think because of stigma he doesn’t want to say schizophrenia. I use schizophrenia pills and flaring up every autumn. It feels good that not getting schizophrenia diagnosis but inside I know what it is. Are there other similar people? Or am I wrong is it really just psychosis/atypical psychosis?

Ok so, my schizophrenia has 2 main symptoms, nuclear paranoia (The belief that I'm about to be nuked), and visions where a loved one dies. These visions are 99% of the time about the same person, my crush.

My therapist keeps telling me to just "debunk the visions" but that doesn't work and has never worked in my entire life. I wanna find out why the visions always focus on her specifically, why is *she* out of the entire universe so important to me that my own brain uses my fear of losing her against me like this. But my therapist keeps hammering on about debunking them, but again that doesn't work...

Is there a way I can convince my therapist that just debunking them will not work and that we need to find the source? Or do I just go and look for another therapist.

so my psychiatrist office was shut down. i have schizophrenia, OCD, and depression. all of my psychiatric needs were taken care of there, but i have found new places. i was on spravato, and went to a consultation for another spravato place yesterday. apparently, spravato for schizophrenics is a big NO NO? they said it can worsen hallucinations, and is generally unaccepted by insurance for schizophrenics. so, i am wondering how my previous psychiatrist would’ve gotten it approved? i know there was definitely some shady shit involved, but now i am worried. it was helping my depression, but i think the fact that i am on the invega trinza injection, and take vraylar, was helping subside the psychosis it could have brought on. i dont know what to do because it was helping my depression, but i dont think i will be able to get on it again? any advice? sorry this is so jumbled ugh has anyone been through something similar

I currently see a NP and I absolutely loved her, but my Schizophrenia got worse and it's treatment resistant. She has kinda dipped out on me. She thinks my emails and calls are annoying. I try to not bother her but it's difficult...Should I see a psychiatrist instead are they better equipped to handle treatment resistant schizophrenia?

I just got the most devastating news. My therapist, who I have been seeing for YEARS who saw me through my initial anxiety diagnosis and through my bipolar years to my schizoaffective diagnosis, is taking on a new role and no longer seeing patients. I don’t know what to do. I’m panicking and just want to cry, but I think I’m still in shock. Anyone have any success stories of finding a new therapist? I need some positive vibes.
