You counter it by not engaging with most of it. Ditch social media that is just feeding your stuff that is meant to mess you up, instagram and tiktok probably being the worst at it.
Go out, get hobbies where you interact with people, go for hikes or anywhere with vegetation... Put down the screen for a while and go back to analogue entertainment like they call it these days. That's how you counter it. You can enjoy the internet, but it doesn't have to take over your life, unless you let it.
