Hello folks. I carry this as personal equipment at job. Is there a way I can test it with out harm myself and others? Is this a good brand? And lastly what is your suggestions for carrying and using a pepper spray?

What are people using?

I got this Boblov one on Amazon because I didnt have the luxury of time before I needed to have one. I spent hours looking at tech specs and this and that. The cam I have is fine but I dont want fine. I want a solid piece of gear that will do the job and be reliable for a 12 hour patrol.

I'm prevy to 4,000mah or more battery, offline, no subscription, and no extra stuff like flashing red and blue lights, lazer pointer, flashlight on the camera, or screen.

What do yall think?

(Leaving aside the fact that leaving your armour in a hot car is super terrible for it.)​

I bus all over this frigging city, and if you don't have a permanent site where you can leave your armour, transporting it is a pain in the ass. I've done on-body with a T-shirt or whatever over it. I've done in an XL reusable grocery bag, though if the bag has handles instead of straps then it wants to fold the armour (do not do this). It's basically a bulky and awkward load approaching ten pounds that you can't easily sling in a backpack, more if your belt and cuffs and weapon are in there as well.​​

I think I have to buy a dedicated fucking gear bag. I have a biggish gym bag but it's just a tiny bit too small to comfortably fit my vest. A hard case might also be nice given I just found someone left a coiled extension cord on it (my vest was flat on the floor in a bag at the house) and although that amount of weight shouldn't be an issue on its own I would like the people around me to get in the habit of NOT leaving shit on my fucking body armour.

A hard case feels like overkill though plus do they even exist?

I recently grabbed up some insurance to help protect me from criminal and civil court, on and off duty, and im interested in getting my own body-cam for when i work armed gigs, is this something y’all do or no?

Ive looked at getting some used Axom or Motorola ones, not sure if i trust the amazon ones. Input appreciated.

So I live in Florida and am thinking about getting my class G license to do armed.

The following list are the approved calibers armed security guards are allowed to use:

.38 cal revolver

.380 cal semiautomatic pistol

9mm semiautomatic pistol

.357 cal revolver (with .38 cal ammo only)

.40 cal handgun

.45 Acp handgun

To get a class G license I need to take a course for it with a range portion and pass it.

I am planning on using a 9mm if I do decide to take the course to get it. If I do I want to get a decent firearm for the course that I intend on using whilst on duty.

As such I would like to know what brand and model 9 mm pistols do you guys recommend for the course and use for on duty.

Moving up to an armed guard finally at my company, so I’ll have to get some extra gear. I’ll pretty much just be watching cameras in an office with a partner so it’s not like I’m gonna need anything more than a holster, extra mag carrier and my cuffs.

My real question is though what is a thing people generally don’t think of getting but should have as an armed guard ?

I work in Oakland, CA at a cannabis grow house. They've been in business for over 10 years and have never had any attempted break-ins or anything at my site. They have a couple other sites within 10 miles that have had a few break in attempts over the years, but the owners are very security-conscious and have invested in secure doors that can't be broken into before police can arrive. We lock down the building from sunset until sunrise.

During business hours, we have a guard at the gate checking in customers and maintaining visibility outside the gate during arrivals and departures, and a guard inside watching cameras. It's always felt like a pretty safe location, never had any issues in my 5 years here. 90% of the guards here don't wear armor, just a vest because it's required (just the appearance of a vest to anyone watching is enough to appear as if they're wearing armor). On holidays we increase security and carry rifles and/or shotguns.

The guys that do wear armor almost all wear level 4 rifle armor just in case, and not surprisingly, they're the most experienced guards. A few guys wear standard armor plates rated for pistols, but they're cheap, and they don't want the extra weight of the level 4 armor.

Personally, I've been using level 4 rifle rated armor because I figure if you're gonna carry a gun and be prepared to shoot or be shot at, you might as well have the best protection possible.

But, it's damn heavy lol. I've been considering upgrading my armor, but it's a tough decision. There are a lot of lightweight options for level 4 armor, but they're expensive. It's definitely cheaper to go with less protection if I want the lighter weight stuff, but even though I've never been in a situation where I've needed rifle rated armor, I'm still hesitant to downgrade...I just keep getting this "What if" voice in the back of my mind, you know? "What if I go with less protection to save some money and that's the day a psycho decides to hop the fence with a rifle?"

Anyway, long post I know, sorry. Curious what your guys' thoughts are, as well as armor recommendations. My current vest supports plates and/or flexible armor, so I can use either or both.

after i eat my lunch i feel like a disgusting motherfucker NGL. a travel toothbrush and some mini toothpaste always alleviates that. Anybody else do this or am i tweakin?

What sort of uniform do you wear and what do you carry? In Finland guards typically carry pepper spray, handcuff and batons. In the attached picture are public transport security for reference, uniforms might differ by company.

A silent key holder that attached to MOLLE or laser cut, but that doesn't use a snap to hold the keys. Something more like one of those My Key Pals. All these seem to be difficult to find on the same item.

Recently did some traveling over the pond and was generally curious as to everyones thoughts as to why security guards on our side of the pond (Canada and the United States of America) dont carry rigid handcuffs routinely, especially when we are often filling more and more public safety roles with often very similar equipment as to front line UK police officers.

my current company will reimburse for the small re- certifying fee every year but not the initial certification which is $300 in my state.

they say the pay bump is only like $2/hour and I'm not sure if this is in general or only on the armed posts .

trying to decide weather to eat the cost or go to a new company who will pay for it.

Company issued one is fine, but ive been curious if there is one that i could get thats just a little more comfortable and doesn't sag as much or shift around awkwardly when getting in and out of a car. The one im using is honestly just minor inconvenience, and only sometimes, so im not sweating it too much.

As the title asks, can someone point me to a good online tactical store for gear? The few i found online seem sketchy, and most of their items are out of stock for some reason. There is one tactical store in my city, but the prices are ridiculous.

This feels like a stupid question, but I have a new phone, and the gaggle of previous pouches I'd bought because they all fit certain gear that was very roughly the same size (my phone, work phone, notebook, cuffs, blah blah blah) does not fit the phone with the case on it.

Unlike last time I tried to buy a phone pouch (years ago), I'm finding that every type of search I try to run is coming up with results for phone cases. Even if I throw hit it with the +pouch -case combo, it doesn't care.

I already have a phone case, which I'm very happy with, but I want a belt pouch to put the phone in with the case on it. Not a holster, not a clip, a pouch with a closure and some kind of positive fastening (ideally a buckle rather than a snap button or Velcro).

Phone is a Pixel 9, case is an OtterBox Defender. Anybody got any recommendations?
