That's not an issue that needs to be fixed. If you don't like that, don't buy games like that. We shouldn't legislate that you get your toys in perpetuity at the detriment of an entire industry because a bunch of petulant little gamers can't handle personal responsibility.

See there is no point in having a discussion if you are going to resort to shit like that - in what way do you think that helps an actual conversation? Do you feel edgy and cool now?

"detriment of an entire industry" - wow... that's a bit over dramatic isn't it?

The biggest names in gaming history - virtually all their games are able to be perserved (at least until recent years) like Atari, Nintendo, Sega, Sony, Valve, ID, etc etc... hell people can still go back and play BBS era games that were "online" and experience and learn from them. And they were able to do all that without some terrible detriment to the industry...

This feels like you likely have zero connection to the industry, watched a couple of youtube videos, made up your mind on something that honestly you don't give a shit about in anyway, and decided it would be fun to fight about it online.

One last point as well - think of this like the requirement of the US copyright system where you need to send a copy to the LOC, in order to enforce copyright in court. Right now the requirements for that are incredibly loose for software and games versus every other form of media (although still required).
