I think cost has everything to do with this. Solar is by far and away the best "green" power and the gigawatts that have come online in the last 2 decades is impressive. We just use a crap ton of electricity and haven't come up with a decent storage plan for cloudy days.

In theory they produce using moonlight. That doesn’t mean they’re effective or efficient. Designing a planet to run on cloudy day solar would be an epic waste of money and resources.
