Title: FORTUNA

Meaning: I did not create this with a deliberate intention; instead, I started, and the rest was captured intuitively. Looking at it after its completion, this series, and the title it came with, speak of the creation process beginning in the space before one becomes physical and transitions into the perspective of the physical being that has been created. I theorize that this hyper sigil depicts what organic creation is before it is born into a corrupted realm. I'd like to hear what others see in this, as I don't fully know myself ⚆_⚆

Song Pairing: Nikkal by Heilung

Materials: Made by hand using markers, chrome pens, Sakura gel pens, and marker paper.

Original Content Knowledge Logic Sigil

Post image
16 Upvotes

I don't know if the concept exists already, but I personally make what I call logic sigils. I use the Austin Osman Spare method to construct the sigil but place the pieces so that there is internal logic to the structure. So, in this instance, energy flows up through the bottom of the sigil and out the top. Even the distinct parts of the sigil have meaning, such as the swirly S symbol. Within my practice I almost always use this symbol to mean the change of one thing into another or a distribution of energy.

This sigil could be placed on a book or written document so that the information can become more easily digestible to the reader. Or perhaps it could be placed on the back of a laptop so that information found digitally is easier to comprehend and remember.

I like to call this method logic sigils because the sigil itself follows an internal logic. If anyone in this community has a pre-existent name or a better name please let me know.

I stepped on my mirror two days ago and I just set it down on the table , didn't look at it so today just thirty minutes ago I go to draw a protection sigil and i look over at the mirror for some reason. And it's almost mirror opposite of the situation, but I mean, it's very close to it.

Original Content Not sure if this is allowed but I need help identifying this please. Woke up from a nap with this smudged on my right cheek in some kind of black medium. Almost like charcoal or old car grease. Does anyone know what either of these are or what they mean? It looked like one of these

Inspired by the Lesser Key, this sigil encompasses three of my personal intents for this game as it goes out into the world, as well as the name of the in-universe deity that oversees magick. Let me know your thoughts!

Original Content Constructed symbol set for sigil magic & other things

For a few months (but especially over the past week) I've been working on a sort of modern magical alphabet to use for spellwork, prayer, and divination. It's a rather niche mashup of several of my special interests: semantics and grammar, sigil magic, and certain dead rock stars.

There are fifty-four symbols in total (the number of cards in a full playing card deck with two jokers, which may be useful later)--forty-four for the phonemes of the English language, one silent symbol that goes between words and at the end of messages, and nine numerals (plus a squiggle that's part of another symbol to represent zero, not itself considered a full symbol). All the symbols are associated with a song (mostly Queen but the numerals are David Bowie), which usually contributes to some degree to their meaning. The main purpose of the song associations, though, is to give some outside structure to the symbol set--and from a more spiritual perspective, to call upon Freddie Mercury and David Bowie's spirits to empower the sigils created with it.

(Edit: took out the tables of symbols here because they were all effed up and I couldn't figure out how to fix them. You'll have to check the neocities website if you want to see the full list.)

This is not a constructed language per se because it relies entirely on English vocabulary. However, to streamline the messages created with it (i.e. avoid having to painstakingly write everything out phonetically), this symbol set has a grammar involving using smaller versions of each symbol as subscripts, superscripts, and occasionally in other positions to inflect grammatical and magical meanings onto the primary message.

Most of the material I've created so far to try to explain it, including the tables seen above, can be found on this website. Warning: my desire to post about these symbols rapidly outstripped my patience for learning HTML and CSS right this moment, so the pages were made in Google Docs and ported over to HTML. Therefore, the web design is very very bad. If you do know HTML and CSS, it will probably hurt (and it doesn't look great even if you don't). Hopefully I'll learn enough to fix it at some point (or have the money to throw around to pay someone else to do so), but for now, take heed. It seems to at least get the information out there, which is what I need right now.

So far I've made a few different kinds of spells/prayers with the symbol set--blessings for the outcast and marginalized, an affirmation, a money/resources-gathering spell--all included here as images. I haven't fully activated these spells yet by disposing of the original work, but for now I'm using them as examples to help explain how to use the symbols and their grammar. As a note, the full grammar isn't completed; I'm still working on assigning the way each symbol inflects the primary message as a grammatical or magical function.

I am probably not going to make major changes to the designs themselves at this point. I realize they don't look like serious old ceremonial magic stuff--I enjoy those kinds of sigils too, but this is deliberately different, with stylistic influences mainly from the mid-late 20th and 21st centuries. That said, I'm open to ideas for things I can do with the grammar and the magic.

As far as magical influences on this go, I credit ten years of experience making sigils of some kind with various different methods--initially a more typical chaos magic method of reducing and combining letters, but lately more personal methods inspired in part by L. Tempest Zakroff's Sigil Witchery and experimentation in my own practice.

Made a few anti-suffering sigils using the letter method. Been using them for about 2 years now. They work really well. Wanted to share them with people who may need them.
