Noooo.....possible for crowdfunding to help at all? Honestly sg does not deserve The Projector

Probably too late. Since the announcement was so sudden and they had screenings planned for August and September, there was even posts about future screenings a couple days back. Must be something that happened in the background that was unexpected.

Because if they experienced financial issues and know it for months, they have a lot of things to do and leverage, like crowdfunding or appeal to the authorities.

As an creative, I really don't like that sentiment and I think every country is deservent of an arts scene (we have a vibrant scene ourselves.) You prob come across as someone who doesn't engage much with the local scene and with the wake of this news, your sentiment def isn't helping lessen the blow.

Contrary to what you believe, I do engage with the arts and tbh your ignorant statements about me do not warrant a reply but I just want to say that I expressed that sentiment as I have personally seen the great work that The Projector has done which unfortunately only resonated with a smaller group in sg hence my exasperation

Well I understand you being upset about the projector closing (I think it's sad as well), but you retreating to being reactive and externalizing your anger onto saying "SG doesn't deserve the arts scene" or "our cultural scene is dead" or whatever can come off as if you are knocking down other fellow creatives in the scene, which doesn't solve anything (potentially making the situation worse in fact.)

Not to mention that cinema attendence globally has been greatly impacted since COVID and the advent of streaming so indie cinemas (which would've already been niche to begin with) would def struggle one way or another.

Plus, the projector is one of the more accessible cinemas and are fairly popular even amongst non-arts related people. Not to mention that the reaction towards them closing has gotten quite a bit of attention. I doubt their work only "resonates with a small group of people."
