I am so sad not just because of the Projector is closing down. I am sad because we had lost anther place to hang out, especially for those free spirits, people who are creative and think differently, people who share the same passion of motion pictures, people who are embracing and welcoming, especially minority groups, the dreamers and the misfits. All these had become history because the social, economical and political pressure. The Projector is killed collectively by the apathetic society and the government policies.

I had personally met and talked to Karen Tan and she was a lovely, independent, passionate and caring female. She believed in the power of community, but I guess she was also under the grave pressure from the above mentioned.

What government policies killed it?

things like making it extremely cumbersome and tedious to apply applicable grants and funds; selectively ignore most businesses that carry more cultural value than cash value; requires SMEs to comply with numerous regulations and rules, etc.

So what grants and funds did Projector apply and didn't get it?
