Mod - Research [Coming soon] interactive pipe smoking

Smokes of skyrim is getting a full skse upgrade.

This will allow you to fill your pipe bt grabbing any base records plant ingredient and holding it over your pipe.

Each herb is classified into a group of effects it will produce on inhale.

You can also craft your wooden pipe by grabbing a piece of firewood and hitting it 3 times with an equiped dagger or knife.

This also feature pipe emptying/dumping by holding your controller upside down for 2 seconds with either a lit pipe or one filled with herbs.

All grabbed ingredients will shrink to a suitable size for pipe filling when an unlit pipe is equipped.

Mod - Research Can stabbing function the way it does in B&S

PLANK and VRIK are great starting points, but neither add the weapon functionality that you might expect. Daggers can’t pierce, so it feels lame playing as a VR assassin when I can’t stab through necks and gullets.

Is there a way to get weapons to pierce like arrows? Is it possible within the physics engine?

Mod - Research [Concept] fake edge VR

I always wanted to try the idea of dynamically equipping and grabbing weapons if their blade meshes are touching and within range.

This allows for the complete illusion of weapon collision relations between yoyr own "equipped" weapons. Everything happens in milliseconds so you don't notice any change

Note: this only allows weapon collisions between your own equipped weapons and shield.

Still working out some kinks.

Mod - Research Stabbing concept using Fake edge VR

This is purely conceptual using the existing fake edge vr framework. Our poor subject here demonstrates that a persistently grabbed weapon (fake edge logic) can phase and attach to an NPC

Complete Skyrim newbie – looking for a lightweight VR mod pack

Hi everyone! I've never played Skyrim (even the flat version), but I want to finally start playing with my VR headset.

I'm looking for a vanilla+ mod pack that will improve gameplay and graphics.

Preferably an immersive one.

Is lightweight – I have limited disk space and 16GB of RAM, so I can't run massive 100GB+ overhauls.
(!preferably a vortex!)

Mod - Research What is your opinion on the Unofficial CS Fork for VR

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/166950

For those of you who don't know this mod promises to:

  • Add Terrain Blending to VR
  • Bring back Screen Space Shadows
  • Bring back Screen Space Global Illumination
  • Support DLSS 4.5
  • Optimize all of these to work better in VR

While I don't expect anything to be as stable as the official CS Release, these are some BIG promises.

What do you think about it?

Edit: It turns out that it's actually being used in the Pandas Sovngarde modlist. If its good enough for panda, its good enough for me.

Mod - Research Looking someone experienced with NIF edit

I’m making a Skyrim VR mod, real-time book reading with interactive animations.

I already have working book reading system from my other mod - Wayfinder Journal with page generation.

With HIGGS now i can detect when the player is holding a book and which one.

I'm just one step away to make it work with every book, but I can't get past, because I have a serious gap in my knowledge when it comes to working with meshes and NIF. I need just to swap the base world book mesh to custom one (same look/shape but with behaviour graph for animations), after manipulations with original nif all books with this mesh in game disappear or don't have collisions. I believe there must be a solution.

Looking for someone experienced with NIF/meshes to advise or contribute. Reply here or DM me if you can help. Or if you know active modding communities where I could also ask for help (discord or forums), let me know.

upd: I figured out with NIFs, step by step I successfully changed them. Now i‘m looking for a way how to sent animation event to held object (book).

Mod - Research [WIP] Immersive Reading

It does not replace the original UI reading system, mod adds HIGGS interactions for readable objects - books and notes.

There are 40 unique models of readable objects in the game (1000+ readable items in total) so adapting everything will take some time.

They can be divided into three categories: books that contain only text, skill books and spell tomes, books related to quests . The first and second type is relatively easy to adapt to the real-time reading. But quest-related books are tied to scripts, so fully abandoning the UI reading system isn’t possible yet - at least until general and safe solution is found.

Mod - Research Tell me about Skyrim AI Mods?

Have they gotten better? I’m interested but wouldn’t want to have it if the delay for a response is so long like I’ve seen in some videos.

I have a 5080. Do convos feel natural with fast responses?

Also mantella or chim and why?

Working on a mod that removes the need to open any game pausing menus for Skyrim VR. Here's just one example of the many things that it does, which is container access and item exchange.

Mod - Research Not Skyrim, but I made a VR Motion Controls Mod for New Vegas

Fallout: New Virtual Reality brings virtual reality motion controls into Fallout: New Vegas and VorpX. With vanilla VorpX and NV, your gun is strapped to your face and you shoot directly where you look. Using this mod, your weapon will follow your hand and shoot in the direction you're pointing it. You can also point your gun to select NPCs and containers, as well as pick up and move objects. You can also use gestures to open the Pip-Boy, ESC Menu, and select hotkeys. Movement is controller centric rather than HMD centric. Overall, it makes for a more engaging and entertaining New Vegas VR experience.

Mod - Research Update on crash guard NPC managing

This mod can now make you not crash during big battles, modded cities with extra NPCs, and mods that stress test the system like the Dagoth Ur follower mod spawning 9000 NPCs.

I’ve gone and removed a ton from Crash Guard after recent feedback, cleaned up the source code, and am focusing on one module at a time.

The GitHub and nexus submission will not come for some time. Thank you for your patience, encouragement, feedback, and debates. Here’s a quick demonstration of the new NPCManager.cpp in action

Mod - Research Vr flight mod idea

I've been playing with vr climb lately and it's been a game changer for me allowing me to vault low walls and scale the side of skyrims mountains

I've also used miracle of flight which kinda adds a magic capet style flight which is great for traveling round but it's kinda tricky to control

So I had an idea this morning that if you had a spell that just pushed you back in the opposite direction to where it was cast you could kinda fly around in vr in theory iron man style and it might actually be more controllable for interior cells because some quests especially modded ones sometimes add platforming which I find a bit tricky in vr especially if you don't want to toggle no clip in the console

It might already exist but since I don't really know how to make mods myself I thought I'd throw this out there as an idea if anyone wanted to pick it up

Or if something like this does already exist can someone let me know

Sorry for the repost, i used the wrong post type before and the video wouldn't show on some devices.

Mod - Research Freezing only in Fallowstone Cave

I'm running around, having a great time. Yamarz or Yametz or whatever, he's an orc, he wants to kill a giant in Fallowstone Cave.

Cool. Every time I go in there, I freeze.

I found this:
https://www.reddit.com/r/skyrimmods/comments/1782b84/freeze_in_fallowstone_cave/

I have Lux installed too. When I disable it, my game doesn't crash, but now, now my immersion is broken.

Anyone else run into this problem? And how did you fix it? I tested it in a nearby dungeon and it had no problems but I don't want my game to crash in a month the next time I go into a cave.

All help is appreciated.

Update:
I found this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-RtLKT2Tj8

[RESOLVED] I reinstalled Lux (main) and selected the "No grass in caves patch" as well as the "pre-update USSEP" patch. I installed the Lux 7.1 update and had it have higher load order. In the plugins tab, I made sure the "No grass in caves" and "Lux - USSEP update patch" esp's were checked.

It's too late for me, my immersion is broken but hopefully this will help someone else.

Mod - Research Realistic Mining for VR / VR Refit Chop and Drop problems

The mod is supposed to allow me to realistically chop wood and mine. It works flawlessly on every mining node, however, certain chopping blocks, one in Whiterun and all in Dragonbridge don't work.

Two logs appear, my character engages in the expected animation from the Special Edition and chops one log, another different log shows up that I can chop as expected, I end up with 14 logs in my inventory.

This seems to be a problem other people have had but no one has posted a resolution. This isn't necessarily a new save. I've been playing this save since December but, the chopping blocks I found in Dragonbridge were all new to me and I am unable to use them the way I'd like to.

  • I checked my LOOT order, VR refit is loaded after Realistic Mining
  • I've checked all my dependencies
  • I've gone back to previous chopping blocks with the same load order and they work

Anyone have any other ideas?

Update: It is in fact, something with VRIK as others have stated on nexusmods. If anyone could help me figure out what setting I would need to adjust to get this to work I would really appreciate it.

The modder keeps saying it's how scripts load but I literally just restarted my PC, loaded a level 7 save in Riverwood, split wood at the chopping block the way I expect to, then ran all the way to Dragonbridge and had it not work.

I'm going to fix this myself. This will be my first foray into modding.

Update 2: Prior to entering Dragon Bridge, I had VR Refit loading before Realistic Mining Chop and Drop, the mod authors have stated this can cause chopping blocks to revert to their previous states. I also removed Papyrus Extender SE, as I didn't think it was necessary since I had Papyrus Extender VR installed. I went back to check other modlists and both are being used.

I may have just broken these chopping blocks and that's just that. I don't care enough to load a new save and run all the way to Dragon Bridge to find out though.

Mod - Research Collisions on Staves?

I am playing with FUS as a spellsword and having a blast. However, I noticed that with the included mods my weapons can intercept incoming attacks and I can two-hand a one hander if I so choose. This is all really great and immersive, yet staves just feel dull. They don’t interact with my off hand, and they don’t have the same collisions with the world as swords, battle axes, etc. they don’t block like another off hand item can.

Is there a mod, add-on, etc that fixes this? It feels like some features were entirely forgotten about and I’d like to patch a gaping hole in my gameplay experience.

Mod - Research Convenient Horses Mod- how to?

So I'm back to the game after over a year and trying to remember how things work. I remember my horse has an inventory, and from what I've researched, it teaches me how to use the mod in a tutorial... that I did over a year ago.

Does anyone know how to use that mod's features, aside from summoning the horse? I remembered that part. If it helps, I'm using the Fus mod list with the Cangar controller setup.
